Reviews for Doc Ford's Rum Bar & Grille in Sanibel, FL
Awesome place! Staff was nice, venue had cool decor and was clean. Extensive drink menu and they even have their own beer.... Despite being extremely busy we found parking and got seated indoors within 30 minutes. Food came out timely and was verydelicious. We got the mussels and clam chowder for appetizers, our little one really loved the chowder. We got the two differentgrouper offerings for our main course and it was amazing. The grouper was thick and perfectly cooked. The fish sticks for ourlittle one we?re even delicious. For dessert we got the carrot cake and the chocolate mousse, and I think that carrot cake isamongst the best I?ve ever had. Overall we recommend this place. Read more
Great restaurant and atmosphere. The service and food were very good. I recommend the popcorn shrimp with the Thai chili dipping... sauce, the BBQ baby back ribs, and the chocolate Ghirardelli brownie. Everything was delicious! Kerry was our waitress, she dida wonderful job and if she's available, I recommend asking for her. Read more
Food was great as was the ambiance. Our server was attentive and dealt with my 3yo nephew with ease. I was a little disappointed... by my drink(s) especially from a place touting themselves as rum bar. Still, amazing food and I will likely go again! Read more
This is probably one of the best restaurants on the island. Everything is overpriced on the island so you know what to expect?... the menu has a good selection. The oysters were nice size and good. We enjoyed our dinner and all of their seafood selections. Read more

I've been on the island handfuls of times and this is my maiden voyage with this restaurant. Typical decor restaurant but that... is were it stops I had the steamed shrimp and the panko crusted grouper. The shrimp had a nice snap to them and good flavor. Thegrouper was the star of the show without question. The day before I thought I had the best Grouper in S.W. FL. I was oh sowrong. If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and find your way to Doc Ford's. Read more
10 out of 10!! Arrived around 6pm on a Wednesday expecting to wait but were seated in 10-15 min. Service was excellent and... ambiance relaxed & fun. Food is great! Big menu with lots to offer. We were immediately impressed by the variety of veggie andhealthier options. GET THE YUCATAN SHRIMP! These buttery, (mildly) spicy, tangy peel & eats are a signature dish for a reason. We could?ve eaten a bucket of these and still wanted more. Shrimp & grits were also a highlight, and banana leaf red snapper wasexcellent. Everything perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and fresh. Finished with a massive slice of the carrot cake which wasdecadent and delicious. Read more
