Had lunch on Saturday and our orders were: 1/4 chicken (dark) plate and a BBQ pork sandwich. We both had fried okra and... Brunswick stew. The chicken was excellent. The sandwich was a little dry, even when self sauced. The Brunswick stew neededa little taste assistance, as many do, with a couple of squirts of BBQ sauce. The taste was good, but the stew tasted a littledry. Traditional Georgia Brunswick stew is three parts each smoked meats: Chicken, brisket, and pork. This stew tastedlike mostly, if not all, chicken, and this may be a result of the current economy, and the result of the "dry" taste. The friedokra was excellent. What a disappointment for 4th of July. We are used to the delicious Slopes BBQ and service. Frankly, they were way to busy... filling catering orders and the BBQ was almost without flavor. Clear, they had boiled and lightly smoked the meat as they hadbig orders to fil. Furthermore, the poor attitabout the obviously burnt cornbread was also disappointing. They claimed it wasbusy with catering and the cornbread all. Ame from the same batch. We were offered more burnt cornbread and then chewy garlicbread that as also not on par. The fried oak wasn't hot and my 86year old Mother in law did Not finish that sad BBQ sandwichbecause she said that even with sauce, it was tasteless. I tasted it so I know that to be true. I live in buckhead and ordered through ubereats. I can finally say as a man who has lived in Statesboro, Macon and Eatonton,... that I've found my favorite BBQ spot up this way and it competes with some of the best I've ever had. I tried the pulled porkand potato salad and they were great. I was nervous about trying the stew bc bad stew ruins it for me but yalls is also great.Repeat customer here. Read more
