During our Labor Day trip to San Mateo, we walked into Romolo's carrying our two tired and hot kids. (Who knows how this would... go!) But Joey greeted us with big energy and friendly warmth. He cracked jokes, shared ice cream samples, and brightened ourentire afternoon. Our final cups and cones spanned mint Oreo, coffee, chocolate and strawberry ? all of it ridiculously tasty.We also took a cannoli to go and *devoured* it that night. In short, you gotta visit. My friend recommended this cute little shop and my mom and I had the best time picking out our cannoli! You can choose between a... few different flavors of pastry filling, classic or chocolate pastry, and pistachio, toffee, chocolate chips or candied cherryas a topping. Cannolis were just about ok. But then my standards are based on what I had in Sicily n Naples. They fill them in front of you... but the outer shells did not taste like they were made fresh. I'm not saying they should fry them in front of you but the ones Ihad tasted pretty stale. But the Tiramisu exceeded my expectations. Could have had little more mascarpone in it and little morecoffee liquor would not have hurt either. Read more
A nice little authentic Italian dessert shop with a long history of family ownership. This is my first time here, and I met... another very kind customer that give us so many great suggestions. I ended up having a regular shell + pistachio filling +pistachio & toffee garnish. To be honest, I didn't find it to be my cup of tea. However, I still decided to give this place a 4star because what I saw in the shop is filled with love and 2 generations of hard work. Read more
A very popular place, we met a regular customer who brought a dozen, and he recommended the original. I got the chocolate... covered shell with half original and half pistachio filling, and dipped with toffee and pistachio. The shell is krispy, thefillings taste similar to me, and a little heavy, the pistachio topping is fresh. (2 for $10) I can see why people like it, butjust not y cup of tea. Read more
I love this place!! Not a huge selection, but I do get family owned vibes. Staff is friendly and kind. Canolies are made to... order, and any combination is delicious. Leave room for ice cream, now with their ghoulish names. ???????????? Read more
