Food was good, standard for the chain, but the service was absolutely horrible and essentially non-existent. Despite the... restaurant being near empty, servers were never around. Food we ordered was forgotten, old plates were never picked up, andspent over 25 minutes for the check at the end of the meal. Normally we love Gyu Kaku restaurants, but this location makes usnever want to return to any again. Read more
Gyu-kaku food never fails. They’re delicious. BUT the service of this branch is bad. It’s clearly they’re understaffed. We... had a reservation for 7pm. We arrived at the store front waiting to be checked in. There were no host/hostess. The line wasgetting long and we were just waiting there without knowing what was going on. None of the waiter/waitress wants to check inwith the people waiting or even make eye contact with any of us. They should at least explain to us what’s the hold up.Don’t just make us wait there. We saw many empty tables but we are not getting seated. So after a good 30 mins, we got aseat. The waiting game starts again. It took 15 mins for us to get served. We ordered the AYCE menu. FYI, there’s a 90 minlimit for AYCE. It took a looooong time to get our orders and multiple orders were even forgotten although we have asked themfor it again & again. It was hard to enjoy the food when we had to keep waiting so long between each order. We spend a total of2.5 hours at the store from arriving to paying our bills. This is how slow the service is. We won’t be going back unless theservice is improved. I would rather go to the one located at Cupertino since they have good service there! Read more
Great location in downtown San Jose. Food is good. However service was slow and not as good as the Cupertino location.
We have a good time with our friends here, meat and appetizers keep good quality, but the quality of service is just ok, they... have problems about short of staff & training about Japanese BBQ service. The grill should be checked & replaced while beenusing for a while, but they didn't, the server or our table staff are so busy for running between tables and kitchen fordelivery dishes. She forgetting checking about the drink & food satisfaction status at our table. Our drinks are way too sweetfor us but we don't have a chance to talk about it with our server. I believe if this location hire more server and runner, orthe manager can check each table at least onece, the service quality will getting better. We will definitely come back, hopethey get better improvement while we back next time. Read more

One of the worst experiences at a Gyukaku. We realized during our meal the salad had a dead bug. We told our waiter who informed... the manager (Marc/Mark). The manager apologized for us and said that he’ll take part of the bill and left. We only had half ofour meal and wanted to leave because we were so put off. We waited for over 20 min waiting for the manager until our originalwaiter came back and asked if we needed anything. We asked him for the bill and saw that the manager only took off 15%! He nevercame back to our table and/or explained why it was 15%. Thankfully our waiter agreed with us, and told us we didn’t need topay. Read more
