Reviews for China Chen in San Jose, CA
UPDATE: Still delicious and our go-to at least once a week. Cannot LOVE this place enough. Small, quaint, family-run little... hole in the wall. An absolute hidden gem. Had the shrimp wonton noodle soup and it was exactly what I needed on this rainyday. Parking available on the street. Looking forward trying other items on their menu. Read more
Walking in the place, you wouldn?t think much. Seeing the framed 2.5 star review from a newspaper article in 2001 gave me a... chuckle thinking how can they be so proud of a low star review?my expectations were set. Fast forward, the meal?twas the bestmeal the whole trip?the noodles, the broth, my god. 5 stars from me! Read more

It is hard for me to rate them 4 star. All of their ingredients from noodle, pork bone broth, fish ball,.beef balls, are all... fresh and delicious. And the food is very nice. However, I ordered a hu tieu nam vang (Cambodian noodle), soup aside, but thenoodles didn't come out as original one, it does not have the minced pork sauce that I often get with Hu Tieu Nam Vang. Beyondthat, the noodles and soup are great. So that is just my personal expectation with a specific dish. The waiter and cashier isvery attentive and quick. Read more
???? Some people do delicate noodle pulls, I pull the whole bowl ????. I had to get their famous Mi Sui Cao (shrimp wonton and... egg noodle soup) and Fried Flour Cake with Egg. China Chen offers Authentic Chinese/Vietnamese flavors that makes you feel likeyou?re back at home. The portions are huge and the cost are inexpensive. I drank about 1/4 of the soup to immerse myself intothe broth and to appreciate the hard work in preparing the base of the dish. Then I had oodles of noodles. When I?m about halfway done with broth and Noods, then I spank it with some sriracha and hoisin to switch up my taste buds. Emptied the whole bowlinto my belly. Definitely a place to try. Read more
Absolutely delicious soups, with fresh noodles that are worth eating. The flavors are deep yet not overwhelming. The story... behind the restaurant?s origin is both encouraging and endearing. Read more
Nice food for our lunch, we have great food all times. Actually I love Chinese food therefore I am so excited and acknowledge... about it! I always use my time to eat there with my friends with many choices. But the big problems that we have here to beingparking because they have no parking. You have to park on the stress with 5-6 space only with charged $2 for 1 hour. One moreabout the place, it is on the corner of 3th stress and E San Salvador, so there are many students who always like me stop by toget food for lunch and dinner. Customers from city hall is big deal to talk about, so if try to stop by you should get theresoon don?t wait until 12pm to be there. You will get no tables and you will wait next your turn! :)) Read more
This is our go to place for egg noodle in SJ - it?s the best in terms of texture and flavor. There?s always a wait (outside the... restaurant) so be prepared accordingly. Noodles both dry and with soup are great, as is the shrimp cracker. Read more
