Reviews for Nature Pagoda in San Gabriel, CA
Please pay attention to the bill 09/03/2022 I called around 7:30PM to order takeout, and my partner went to pick up the meal at... around 8:00PM. I found that there was an extra ginseng claypot rice ?????? of $23.xx on the receipt. My partner said, beforepaying the bill, it shows the correct items. However, the receipt charged one extra item and money was taken. We took thereceipt back to the store to ask. The clerk refunded the money, and the clerk told the other clerks in Cantonese, "we have topay for dinner by ourselves today." Too bad I didn't expect to take a photo for proof, the clerk didn't return the receipt tous. While writing this review, I was trying to confirm the name of the dish, but it's not on the menu, it's a hidden item. Read more
One of the best and OG spot for authentic Cantonese hot clay rice pot and traditional herbal soup places. They have been there... like over 20+ years. I always order their chicken wings and stick combo (chicken/beef) to go with my favorite clay rice pot.Their clay port rice menu is very extensive, and you got to try out their herbal tea. This place is much cleaner now after theremodeling. Quick tips: This place is very small with a small parking lot as well. However, the parking lot is connected to theLux Tea Lounge right next door. Don?t expect the cray rice pot to come out quick and all your foods will come out at the sametime. It will take some time for the clay rice pot to get prepared. Just be patient and chill with the chicken wings (must orderitem and thanks me after) lol. Read more
A strong contender for best claypot rice in town. They have lunch special clay pots that are smaller in portion (but still... cooked with lots of love) compared to their dinner counter parts. Their sauce is a weird oyster sauce blend, unfortunately, instead of being a sugar+soy sauce+white pepper mix. Read more
Not a bad spot for clay rice pot. I've driven by this restaurant for so many years without realizing what they served here. I... came to know the name thanks to the sisters from HangryDiary when they mentioned this restaurant is their favorite for rice pot.Hailing from Hong Kong, I love all types of clay rice pots, especially the crispy rice on the bottom. So going into NaturePagoda, I had high expectations as to their taste. I came here alone on a Monday afternoon and it was very quiet. There wereonly 2 other tables occupied by groups but the workers had a lot of time on their hands. I ordered their lunch portion preservedmeat rice pot, which also came with a small soup. I don't know the exact name but it tasted a lot like chicken soup with wintermelon but I could be wrong. Once the pot came out, I waited a couple minutes before digging in because I wanted the rice at thebottom to get even crisipier so that I can struggle and dig for it at the end of the meal. Overall taste was just okay; the soysauce they provided was more on the salty side and not sweet enough. Soy sauce for this dish needs to be dark and sweet in orderto fully enjoy it. The amount of meat was less than abundant but then again, it was a lunch portion. The part I was longing forwas a disappointment though. Not enough crispy rice at the end but there still was some so enjoy at least, which is why I gavethis place a four. I honestly believe I would come back and try other dishes in the future but I'll just stick to a differentrestaurant for my clay rice pots because I get a lot more crispy rice. Read more
First time ate here, referred by my friends. It's hard to find parking to have a meal here, their parking lot is so small so be... ready for a longer walk and park somewhere further. Long waiting time if you come here during busy hours. The place is small, only few tables setting but their food are tasty, prices are pretty decent and customer service was great Read more
My new favorite spot for authentic clay pot rice dishes. Absolutely fantastic little gem in San Gabriel valley. Authentic Hong... Kong style clay pot rice dishes and herbal steam soups. Ribs and preserved sausage, cured pork sausage with taro, and frog herb(Wei Kei) steam soup, all good eats. Read more
Hot clay pot dishes are tasty. Got the #1 on the lunch menu. $5.95 or so? Great Got one w fish and spicy sauce too. They take... a while bc I?m sure these are made to order. They had run out of the fried large dumplings. Next time! Parked in the back lot. Read more
Very reasonable priced filling and very good. Had the Claypot rice with ribs and black bean sauce. Each element can stand on... their own but together is better. Service was friendly and good. Only thing is the menu lists some dishes as spicy. It is onlyspicy if you think ketchup is spicy. There is Sriracha on the table for people who need a little spice. Read more
