Vegan deliciousness. Hospitality and customer service beyond compare. Love and peace and blessings in EVERY single interaction... and bite of food. How does one describe a business owner who answers the phone to say that their restaurant is not open, butthey will cook the food and DELIVER it to you? A blessing!!! How does one articulate how good it feels to enjoy with friendsfood that ranges from vegan to fried prawns? Smokey flavored vegan black eyed peas, amazing vegan gumbo (because some haveshellfish allergies), a kale/cabbage slaw out of this world, yams y'all, and greens...oh, and did I say that the mac n' cheeseis better than mine (and THAT is saying something!), oh...and that honey drizzled cornbread muffin!!! Yummm. And check itout...I had the fried red snapper too! But did you see how I fixated on the sides??? If the sides are that good, what do youthink the fried fish tastes like? Right!!! Bomb! We?ve been here for lunch, around noon, and did not have a good experience. The service was terrible?. Awkward greeting with... unclear guidance about where to sit. Didn?t bring us water for 10 mins. Then, we didn?t get our food for 25 mins after ordering,making us late for our afternoon meetings. While visiting San Francisco, my friends wanted soul food! We visit this place and in order to sit inside you have to show proof... of your vaccination card. I ordered the salmon which was cook to perfection. I also had the red beans and rice which I thoughtwould taste NOLA style but that wasn?t the case. They were very bland and needed a lot more season. I also had the Gouda Mac andcheese which was cheesy but could have used more season as well! The portions of the food was well more than enough! We werefull and had plates to go! Very delicious food ! And loved the atmosphere in this restaurant the staff were very friendly as well. If I could give 10 stars... I would we had the catfish sandwich , and the seafood roll with a side of Cajun fries with garlic aioli dipping sauce and GoudaMac and cheese ( YUM????) Read more
The food here is incredible. Every dish was cooked perfectly and uniquely flavorful. We had the seafood roll, and one plate with... fried chicken, mac n cheese and honey butter cornbread. The seafood roll was buttery and garlicky, without being toooverpowering. The fried chicken was crispy and savory. The mac n cheese was some of the best I?ve had with aldente noodles and acreamy, slightly spicy sauce. Lastly, the cornbread might?ve been my favorite. I?m not a huge fan of cornbread in general, butthis hit the spot. The cornbread was crispy with honey caked on its outside, but its inside was soft with honey flavors meltedthroughout. Update: I just popped by as the moving truck was taking my beloved Voodoo Love to Mission Bowl on 17th Street. Since they are a... pop-up I have to take them where I can get them. The good news is that they can still deliver to me over in the East Cut. Youcan be sure as soon as they unpack that truck I will be placing my order.???? Original post: Wow! I haven't had fried chickenthis good since I lived on the East coast. I am so grateful that they moved into my neighborhood! Seriously! I love everythingabout this place. Even though we are all wearing masks you can tell clearly that the people running the show are genuinely happyto see you and make you feel extra special. ???? The ambiance and vibe is really cool since it's an outdoor setup (COVID) inthe middle of a beautiful courtyard. It's not windy because they have these great glass partitions to protect you. I ordered myfood to go but sat there long enough to realize that next time I want to eat there. Food was absolutely delicious! Service was excellent! I am getting hungry as I write this. Fried snapper, fried catfish, black... eyed peas, Mac and cheese, red beans and rice, kale slaw, gumbo and cornbread is soooo good!
