10/10 for aesthetics. I loved all the decor. It's a small little corner shop which houses quite a bit of people. Came in on a... Friday evening and luckily for us the wait time wasn't too grueling. We waited about 15-20min until they were able to seatus. Pro tip - check in on Yelp and receive a free Sapporo. Can't go wrong with washing down your meal with a cold glass ofbeer. Read more

Great place to eat. Their food is amazing especially the Gyoza and Chicken Karaage. Their bathroom is also very clean and... reminds me of old school bathrooms with posters and ads in Japan. Read more

In September me and my mom went to SF for her 75 birthday and this beautiful Izakaya was right up the street from us, If you... have heard about Izakaya's and wanted the experience and absolutely wonderful food and atmosphere this is the place to be. Thefood was amazing and service just top notch and it has a traditional Japanese Izakaya style with a American flare. I recommendstepping out of you normal routine and coming here you won't be disappointed. Read more

Funky, fun ambiance and great service, but unfortunately the food was just okay. The chicken ramen did not come out as pictured... in other reviews (whole leg & thigh) and the broth was too sweet / didn?t have a deep miso flavor. I?d come back to give itanother shot, maybe they had an off night! Read more

Vegetarian friendly Izakaya. Good vibe. Good service. Good food. We were there early for dinner. When we left, there were lots... of people waiting in line because of the happy hour promotions I believed. If you are looking for a place to chill out withfriends or family. This is the place to be. My recommendation dishes are fried tofu n veggie tempura. Read more

Foot long salmon was delicious. Cheesy oxtail could have been cooked longer so that the meat could've been more tender and... vegetables softer. Read more

After a stressful week at work, we decided to have some really good food on a Friday night and we found Public Izakaya. We... ordered three small items to try if the food was good, and it didn?t disappoint us! Then we ended up order more. Our favoriteone is the hamachi carpaccio; the fish was very fresh and flavoured with the chef?s special sauce, the best thing ever. I can?thelp but screaming in delight. We also ordered the raw oysters, 6 pieces for $15, extremely fresh and reasonably priced. Otherfoods that we love and will recommend: -Tofu fries (crispy and very yummy, I like the fact that it?s fried tofu cut into stripsto bring the texture to the next level), -Hokkaido uni (seasonal and super fresh, truly from Hokkaido, you can taste thedifference. Must order if they have.), -Salmon belly sushi (very long and delicious), -shrimp sashimi (fresh and sweet!!), -Sakeclams (the soup is hot and satisfying). -yummy beans -hot sake We highly recommend this place and will come back again! good: it's located in a heart of the city. staff was very nice and kind. there are happy hour menu, we got simple rolls for$5... per plate.(normal price $7) sashimi was fresh! not good: they served water in plastic cups(not good for environment. forcovid..?) she recommended Maui ribs(short ribs), well marinated but we got fatty parts (couldn't eat) and also cold. miso soupdidn't have umami, tasted mostly warm water with bit of miso. these two were not impressed to us.
