Cali/ Italian fine dining experience headed by young chef with great talent. Nothing beats tasting their creations now while... they are still developing their menu and will pose for photos with their diners! The obligatory bar is always at the front ofthe restaurant. It’s a big piece of marble on prime restaurant land. Maybe it’s zoning requirements. Loved the open kitchenand to see the brigade working like clockwork. Didn’t hear any raised voices! This must be a well controlledkitchen. Seasonal menu is offered as they pride themselves on the food sourced from the Bay Area and provenance. Each food itemcan be traced back to their origins. Great presentation and interesting combinations with the seasonal items. I loved the tastecombinations as it pushed my palate outside of the known and expected. I don’t like to pick a favourite dish while dining atMichlin starred restaurants. They have to be rated as a fine dinning experience from the moment you enter the place, try out thetoilets, till you get the bill, and then walk out the door. Overall, I loved the start up feeling of the place and the menu. There’s great potential! Do dine there before they get famous! Read more

I mean, if you're looking at this, you already know what you signed up for. Place was pretty much perfect. Only thing I found... lacking was the beer selection - I hate wine, which seems to be their bread and butter. Other than that, you're gonna love it. Read more

The food was delicious! The menu is prix fixe and every single course was impressive. We ordered the seasonal duck and wow -... very much worth it. Additionally, the white sturgeon caviar was a highlight for the experience with the freshness of the tomatoand strawberry salad. We opted for the wine pairings and it was really well matched so I'd encourage others to do the same. Theambience was perfect, too. I'll definitely be back. Read more

Had a wonderful dinner at Sorrel. The standout dish was the porridge with summer black truffles. Loved the deeply savoury stock... and perfume of the black truffles. I also really enjoyed the corn risotto that reminded me of creamed corn. Read more

Went here for my birthday and had the tasting menu and added oysters. I can not say enough good things about this place. From... the experience, to the creativity of the dishes, to the staff, this place fired on all cylinders! The oysters are some of thebest I’ve ever had, but i think my favorite dish was the hamachi crudo. The freshly baked sourdough bread and fresh butter waseven excellent. I will be bringing others back here for sure. This food is art and if I could give 6 stars, I would. Read more

I've come to this 1 Michelin Star restaurant with much anticipation, so why did I gave it only a 3 star review. Well, for one,... I'm a tough critic who has eaten in many Michelin Starred restaurants around the world. So to me, dining is an entire experience(especially when we are paying a huge premium for Michelins in SF) which is more than just the food, everything else must beperfect. It's about the service, the vibe, the decor and even the ambience in the restaurant. Although the pandemic made thischallenging, the outdoor seating just could not match the decor and atmosphere of having a nice table inside. They did the bestthey can to accommodate and put us at the bar (which is honestly a very good seat, albeit a bit cram). The waitstaff was one ofthe most friendly and considerate in SF. The food and wine (which has a selection of natural wines) were truly innovative (asyou can see from the photo of the menu), with a seasonal strawberry theme to all the courses. Everything was delicious all theway up until the main course, which felt a little flat. The taste just didn't match that of the earlier courses. They were goodin a sense that we taste the original taste of the tripe bass and squab (which is a focus of "California Cuisine"). However, thesavory taste of the soup and the sauce did not go into the body of the main course, so each bite of the main felt bland compareto the savory cappelletti pasta before it and the dessert after it. Maybe my expectation were too high, or California cuisine isjust not for me, but these 2 slightly offbeat experiences is what stole the 2 star from my entire dining experience, leavingthem a 3 out of 5.
