Cool hole in the wall place in the middle of Portero Hill super close to my place! Good: - Super nice staff - Unique ambiance -... very NOLA - and I've been to NOLA so this is authentic stuff - The jambalaya was amazing, and the chicken combo I can say thesame - the flavors were off the charts and the portion sizes were hugeee. Bad: - It was a bit cold to be outside and theheaters weren't working - Food is a bit slow to come out Overall it was a solid experience and I'd go again! Read more

A fun, family run restaurant. There is a lot of care put into the food and service. The owner was very interested in making sure... we had a great meal. The staff was very friendly and helpful with our food choices. We had jambalaya and gumbo. They were bothamazing. The grits were very creamy and tasted like pure butter. We also had salad and very tasty beans. Read more

Favorite brunch spot around! I religiously get brunch every Sunday and after trying most of the other brunch spots in the area,... I decided to become a regular here. In my opinion Poboys Kitchen offers the best combination of flavor, price and portion sizesand you almost never have to wait to get a seat. The owner Metin is a super personable guy who is apparently also the manager, server, marketer and webmaster for the restaurant. If you consider yourself a person who loves brunch and support local/smallbusinesses, Poboys Kitchen is a must visit. Read more

We were in the area and decided to try something different than what we typically do for lunch. Got here around 12:30 PM and... were seated right away. It was a very nice day out so we decided to sit outside in the shade. There were a couple of tablesoutside (mainly 2 people tables but they did make a 6 people table for a bigger party). There were a few bar seating inside andsome additional seating inside as well. We ordered the fried Okra, the jambalaya with chicken and andouille sausage and friedchicken combo. For drinks, we got swamp water ice tea and the Abita lager. I have never eaten Okra before so not sure how thiscompares to others but their fried Okra was great! It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The way that I woulddescribe the soft Okra texture is kind of like eating a fried pepper without the spice since there were seeds in it. Thejambalaya was very flavorful and generously portioned. The chicken was slightly over cooked for my taste but the dish overall isstill great. My husband?s fried chicken combo was great. The chicken was flavorful and crunchy. The collard greens was alsoflavorful and not just plain. The mash potatoes were great! You can tell there is quite a bit of butter in it, which is how Ilove my mashed potatoes. The swamp water ice tea was very good and refreshing! It came with a variety of fruits (strawberryblueberry and sliced oranges). It also was not overly sweet at all. Service was great! The waiter and waitress came to check onus a couple of times.
