Reviews for Piperade in San Francisco, CA
We’ve been coming here for years and often bring out of town visitors. Chef Hirigoyen consistently prepares fabulous food. The... seafood stew and their Basque version of risotto are two of my favorites. The interior has a great vibe. Walk up the Filbertsteps afterwards for great views. Read more
Visited Piperade for the first time with my team. Ordered the rib eye steak which was cooked perfectly, and tried the... traditional gateau basque, warm chocolate cake and caramel custard for desserts. Quite the experience in Basque cuisine. Read more
Wow, this place is truly a hidden gem. Excellent food, service, and pricing! The dining room is cozy without being pretentious.... The service is knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. The quality of the food is very good. Their wine list is extensive, with a wide range of pricing. A great place for a date or business meeting. Read more
After researching several SF restaurants that could provide private dining for 20-30 people I chose Piperade and I am very glad... I did. Between Stephanie (event planner) and chef Gerald they could not have been more accommodating. Nothing was too muchtrouble and they clearly have lots of experience in organizing private dinners. They were also more flexible in menu optionscompared to the restrictions I found at many other locations. The room (Lauburu), food, wine, service and overall experience wasgreat. A number of friends were excited to hear we chose Piperade for our event and everyone had a great time. Highlyrecommended!! Read more

Overview: beautiful presentation, friendly staff, and great environment to have dinner with friends. The food itself isn't... satisfactory (thus the 3 stars) - so for the price, this isn't good value. We ordered plenty of different appetizers: therillettes (they were good), the shrimps (flavorless), bacon dates (highly recommend these), and pepper with cheese (lack depth, flavor and texture). For the mains, we had the duck confit (overly fat and dry, lentils were quite good though), the lamb(medium rare, the texture was perfect but seasoning was missing, the merguez was delicious), sea bass (beautiful texture andvery moist). Desserts were the chocolate cake, apple tart, and the "typical Basque cake" - each of which was underwhelming interm of flavor and texture, but were beautifully plated. Read more
Very grown-up ambience with wooden interior decor. The waiter recommended a great red wine called Tepranilln, and the food in... general was delicious. I highly recommend the mushroom tartlet and the stuffed piquillo pepper with goat cheese for appetizer, and for dessert both the caramel custard and the organic blossom beneigets were amazing.
