We've been patrons of this restaurant for decades. Superb food and service, as usual. Recently we dined there for my wife's... birthday. The staff cheerfully helped with our photos and otherwise accommodated our modest, quiet celebration. Read more

Busy night for staff, long waits etc but they did well enough given the circumstances. Pasta was fine but not good enough to... justify the price point. Read more

Amazing food, incredible staff and a fantastic atmosphere. The ?wine master? as I called him cos I?m not cultured enough to know... the real name was spot on with the wine suggestions. Additionally, barkeep is a fantastic conversationalist. Definitely will goback. Read more

It would be easy to just say that this is a typical North Beach Italian place, but it's actually not. It definitely had it's own... flavor. The ambiance of the restaurant is very cozy and intimate, with everything being the opposite of what you'll find at achain restaurant. Our waiter was able to get the bartender to concoct some wonderful non alcoholic drinks for us. The Bolognesesauce was so full of flavor I had to wipe the plate clean with my bread. No, it is not a cheap meal, but worth every dollar wepaid. Can't wait for a return trip. Read more

Disappointed. I remember coming here years ago for a work dinner, in the cellar banquet room. Great memories, but tonight for my... son's 19th birthday it wasn't nearly as I had remembered. Limited vegetarian options and the Bucatini sauce had meat in it. Theytried to up-sell me on a bottle of wine for 2 drinkers. They also tried to fast talk me into pasta appetizers for the wholetable. What was that about?! We also ended up with 2 plates of over-steamed broccoli. No dinner with 4 kids needs 2 plates ofbroccoli. Thanks for watching out for us. Don't get me wrong, most of the dishes we had were good, albeit a bit pricey, but Ifelt like I was at a used car lot, buyer beware. I'm no SF food rookie, I've lived and eaten here for 20 years, treat me and myfamily with respect. We're trying to enjoy a special family occasion during these times, not be on guard. Oh and thanks for the2 x $8 bottles of still water?! I asked at the end if we could take a peek at the cellar banquet room, was told it's underconstruction, but that I could make a separate reservation to see it??? Will not be going back. Read more

Classic old school atmosphere, warm and wise service and hearty Italian classics served quickly and efficiently. Cioppino,... Linguine porcini scallops, ravioli Ragu, an off menu cannoli dessert and veal parmigiana stood out. Great place to entertain. Read more

We had a fun and lively dinner here last Saturday around 7:30 pm. Our friends made a reservation ahead of time, which I highly... recommend (there were a few parties on the wait list). The staff were not only pleasant, but very approachable and personable?they made jokes, smiled, and seemed to genuinely enjoy being there! ?? Of the food we ordered, the table favorite was a seafoodlinguini with scallops (about $28). The scallops were so tender and flavorful, perfectly cooked! Two at our table had the PastaDella Casa ($20) and another had a breaded flatfish fillet (which he liked). If you come here, I suggest going all out with theseafood: I wish I had gone for lots of scallops, instead of my conservative (but yummy) house pasta! ???????? The place ispopular for birthdays, at one point there were 4 happy birthday songs sung in about a 20 minute period, which was hilarious.???? Read more
