This is a great traditional French Restaurant. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable ... the food was excellent. Although this... is shown as expensive, we didn't find it expensive for SF ... and on a par price wise with the less good Cafe Bastille nearby. Read more

Went to Le Central for a birthday dinner partly because most local restaurants were closed on a Monday night. And partly because... it was ONCE a great old-school restaurant. Our meal was DREADFUL -- almost everything VERY salty, badly prepared and presented, and VERY expensive. Will NEVER return. Read more

We went to Le Central for lunch, the service was really really bad. No plates, no silverware. We eventually got frozen bread... after asking for it multiple times. We sat for 1.5 hours and we were only served soup. We asked for the check and left. Not evenan apology from the staff. Read more

The place is beautiful and the staff are very nice. Escargot were huge but filled with dirt so had that crunch you would get... from eating sand. They charge you for bread. The steak was cooked the way I wanted but no sauce. Just this odd pepper butterwith little flavor. Id say this is a tourist trap. So many better places to get French food in SF. Read more

My husband and I finally got a chance to try this restaurant after the pandemic and we were so glad we did! They just reopened... and you can definitely tell that the owners took the time to renovate to create an ambiance to make the guest(s) feel welcome. We got to try many of their dishes including their onion soup, crab cakes, truffle fries, cassoulet, beef bourguignon, andvanilla creme brulee! We were not disappointed and got to sit at the famous Willie Brown spot and enjoyed the beautiful downtownview. Would definitely recommend and come back! Thank you, Paul! He definitely made us feel welcome and was very down to earth!I wish we took more pictures of the food! Read more
