Maybe I?m old but it was so dimly lit inside that I could barely read the menu. They had a crazy selection of various items but... we opted for the omakase nigiri. The fish was good but nothing spectacular stood out, unfortunately. And the rice could've beencooked and seasoned better. We got 16 pieces which were about $6 per. They have a decent alcohol list also. Solid place but mostlikely won?t return. Read more

I don't usually write reviews, but this omakaze is the best I've ever eaten. I can't remember the name of the fish, but... everything worked well and the garnish on top was the perfect combination. I'll have to come back to try other things next time. Read more

Nice little place on my beloved 24th street which never disappointed! Their sushi are so delish and big that we used to order... less than in other places just to avoid overeating (: I love Kazans? soothing semidarkness which adds the ambiance. Andattentiveness of their stuff as well as quality and speed of work of the kitchen. Always recommend this place to those whocraves for sushi at reasonable prices in SF Read more

Overall it was standard fare. UnagiKabayaki - 3/5 - I always am curious to see how big a portion every restaurant serves. This portion was sort of small in myopinion. The flavor was decent. Some of the smaller plates were OK, but the Salmon miso yaki(more like yucky) plate was bad.. it was slimy, tasted off and... severely undercooked. Also got a Lion King roll which was old tasting and slimy and service pretty much avoided us until weasked for the check... maybe we caught them on an off night. At least they took off the roll from the bill. Read more

Solid Sushi spot in the Mission! Service was great, our waiter continually made sure we were doing well; a solid house sake (my... kryptonite); and the there quality of fish is ????????????????. Was in awe at the size of sashimi from the sampler! We gotthe - Sashimi Sampler - house sake (????- not as dry as you?d imagine!) - age-Dashi tofu (must try if you like tofu. I want tofill a pool with the broth it comes in and swim in it) - 49er roll (not too impressed, crab was whatever) - Kazan roll ( youHAVE to get this roll. This is THE roll to order) Food came out a little bit quickly, would recommend to order as you go? butoverall a great spot. Read more

I had a truly excellent meal here. The sushi is very fresh, obviously expertly selected by the chef and exquisitely prepared.... Each piece was more delightful than the last! The menu of Nigri is really exciting (multiple kinds of toro!). I loved being ableto taste multiple cuts of the same fish & compare them. Nice selection of sake as well. Service was excellent, attentive &helpful. This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but it's in line with the quality delivered, without question. If you're lookingfor an elevated sushi experience, Kazan is your destination. Read more
