This place was way cuter inside than I expected! Had passed by many times before and had no idea. Stopped by as we were craving... pizza, but not thin crust (we <3 crust), and this seemed it would fit the bill. Server was very nice, and we were brought breadbasically as soon as we sat down- a great start! Had wings as an appetizer which were quite good. But our main dish, one of thespecial pizzas (I think the Enrico?s?), was honestly a bit disappointing. Just an underwhelming pizza overall. A bit light onthe meat as well. Felt like someone took a generic cheese pizza and tossed some sausage and jalapeños on without much thought.I also had the beef ravioli, which I thought was good (and did have lots of meat inside!), though my partner was not a fan andthought they also tasted like generic store bought ravioli. We come to Gaspare?s every time we are visiting my family San Fran (they actually live over an hour outside the city, and we... still make the trip in for Gaspare?s every time). It?s absolutely wonderful pizza in a unique, charming and beautiful setting.Service is always prompt, friendly and attentive. Now, if only you could box the pizza for us and mail it to Colorado?. This is a great place for some authentic Italian food. The decor inside the cafe is very unique and beautiful. The food was... amazing and the service was great. They were very friendly. We tried the Italiana pizza which is pesto pizza, the crust wassoft and the toppings were perfect. Gaspare?s special was good too. It has marinara sauce. We also tried gnocchi, with Alfredosauce. You get an option of choosing the sauce. Gnocchi was ok. They also serve wine by the carafe. The rose was great. Read more
I've walked past this place many times. Today, I decided to finally enter and try the food. I was met with a retro diner... looking restaurant, with booths, a gumball machine, and music machine things. It was dimly lit. A man gave me a menu, bread,butter, a plate, and flatware. I got the spaghetti al pesto, iced tea for my drink, and spumone for dessert. The pasta came outquick and was warm. The pesto was really good. It was creamy, flavorful, and was really smooth and emulsified. It was an ampleportion of spaghetti. I wasn't super hungry and couldn't finish it so I got a to-go box. I struggled for a bit with it andgoogled how to eat pasta in an Italian restaurant. Excluding pizzerias, this was the first proper Italian restaurant I've everbeen in. Turns out, you put the spaghetti on your plate and use the spoon to cover it with sauce, then eat it with the forkalone. The bread is used to soak up leftover sauce. Speaking of the bread, it wasn't super fresh. Bread is usually baked in themorning though so that's fine. I would've preferred softened butter instead of hard butter. The iced tea was just fine. It'swhat you'd expect in a diner or restaurant or some other place that doesn't focus on tea. The spumone was very creamy and asatisfying end to a good meal. I didn't know spumone existed before today so it was the best spumone I've ever had. My totalcame out to be around $26 and just under $31 with the tip. I'll probably come again to try more Italian food. Read more
The atmosphere here was amazing, and the service was perfect. But the real prize was the food. The salad and fried mozzarella... sticks was out super quick and the pizza we ordered was the best pizza I've ever had. Not sure how ill eat pizza after I've beenhere. Read more
My good friend and I come here just about every other month. The server (I wished I remembered her name) is always so nice and... bubbly! Always in such a wonderful mood. Never stressed. We love Gaspare?s!! Best pizza (thin sliced) ever! The way it shouldbe. Always consistent. Mozzarella sticks are super yummy, too. Read more
