Reviews for Ernest in San Francisco, CA
Amazing food! My friends and I got the family style tasting menu and every dish was so good. We were exceptionally full and... satisfied by the end. Great cocktails as well - really enjoyed the makrut fizz Read more
Please show up here hungry as this is one of those places you?ll want to sample the whole menu. During our first visit to... Ernest, we were ill prepared for the amount of delicious offerings as we snacked just a few hours beforehand. We loved it somuch we made our friends return with us so we can try more dishes. You really can?t go wrong with the menu here but some of ourfavorites are the Sushi Rice, Fried Rice, and Lo Mein. Just very creative takes on classic dishes that you won?t find anywhereelse. The overall ambiance of the place is also great; the dining space is modern with some cute Asian touches, service isfriendly and attentive. If I had to nit pick it will be that their custom pottery could be of better quality, they should?vejust gone with Heath! Read more
This was one of the best dining experiences I?ve had in San Francisco in a while. My friend and I got there at 5pm without a... reservation but were sat at the bar immediately. The windows have a great view of the city (Sutro Tower specifically) and weenjoyed watching the sunset behind the hills as we ate our food. Everything we ate was seriously fantastic; I recommend thetartare and the aged beef dumplings. Service was also great; everyone working at Ernest is clearly very knowledgeable about themenu and being a server myself I really appreciated the attentiveness I was shown! Great job. Read more
We had the chefs recommendation. Over all pretty decent flavor (except the duck breast, no-go) My favorites are sea urchin lo... mein, beef dumplings and chocolate sundae!! Nice collection of cocktails too - definitely try the Gin Fizz Read more
Really delicious food and drinks. There?s a very unique take for each of the items. Loved the scallops with truffle, probably... one of the best preparation of scallops I?ve ever had. Foie gras had eel on it which made it a bit fishy but it was definitelyhigh quality food. Bone marrow dumplings were delicious but a bit on the saltier side - extremely savory though. The dessertsfelt a bit lacking in comparison to the rest of the menu to be honest, but overall really great meal! Read more
On our first visit reservations were a little tricky. They were bustling and we quickly understood why. The menu is super fun.... Maybe irreverent. Tater tots and caviar? Uni lo mein. Awesome. We probably ordered too many dishes but I can't think of a singleone I would've skipped. Would've appreciated some sake selections on the otherwise respectable wine list but you can't haveeverything. Came here and did the chefs tasting. Initially when the seafood platter was served we thought we made a great decision. Alone... this felt worth the price. Parker rolls are always an excellent accompaniment to any meal. The next several dishes I felt weresaltier than my liking to the point if not wanting to eat them. I did take them home to see if my palate was off for the nightbut I stand by my assessment. I would come back here for the cocktails which were all amazing and the service that was kind, professional, and fast. Never thought I?d like a cocktail with sour cream; definitely try their gin fizz. We cane here with 4 people and got the prix fixe so we were able to try pretty much everything on the menu. Some of the dishes... were a bit hit or miss, but overall the experience, the taste, and the service was wonderful. My favorites were the bread, thefried rice, and the ice cream dessert. The one that really did not suit my taste was the chicken liver terrine. Read more
