What a find. Hole in the wall authentic Polk Village tapas hangout, seriously understated, yummy pint sized appetizers of the... most delicious kind. Had anchovy-filled olives, stuffed squid. Strong 8% beer. Ask for toasted bread with smoked olive oil. Allreasonably priced. From one foodie to another...I like this place! Read more

Very cool experience doing the sherry flight here! I learned so much about the diversity of flavor with sherries, and the food... pairings were eye opening and delicious as well. The churros also were so tasty. We ended up taking a bottle of sherry homebecause the experience was so excellent! Highly recommend Read more

El lopo represents the best sort of thing in a city like San Francisco. It's boldly unusual and comfortably weird. El Lopo is... dedicated to the oft-misunderstood world of fortified and aromatized wines - namely sherry and vermouth. Sherry is just barelystarting to get any level of recognition as a cocktail ingredient, much less being recognized as something that stands on it'sown, and while vermouth is a staple in most cocktail bars, it is still something that doesn't get much consideration as asipper. El Lopo is trying to bring people's attention on each for the latter purpose, which is great to see. They have a verynice selection, a laid back atmosphere and great staff. This is not a great place to get a bite to eat if you are gluten ordairy free, but nobody is perfect, and the food is really there to help experience the drinks in a different way, so I wouldstill recommend them if you are at all interested in learning about Sherry or Vermouth Read more

Out of all the stops we did during the "Crawloween" Halloween pub crawl, this is the one that really stood out as a place we... would return to whenever we are in the area, especially for a cozy date night. Since the pandemic, we haven't been able to doour European travels like we used to, and this place scratches that itch: quaint, cozy, nice and cultured atmosphere and decor, excellent drinks (plus a sherry list), chilled vibe and music (we were going to leave instead of waiting to come in -- theyseemed a bit overwhelmed by the pub crawl crowd -- but then one of our chillout favorites started playing, Underwater Love bySmoke City, and we knew this was our place.) The staff were all cool, the sangria was good, and the slice of pumpkin and potatoempanada was delicious. Being here almost made things feel normal and relaxed again. It was great! Read more

This was a pleasant surprise for us. It wasn't your flashy and fancy SF wine bar, and the people there are pretty layback. As... order food and drink, each dish and drink surprise us more as they were all really delicious. We went from a little unsure as wewent in, to pleasantly surprised as our orders came, and was finally thoroughly satisfied as we leave. Give it a try. I'm sureyou'll be surprise too. Read more
