Reviews for Daeho Kalbijjim & Beef Soup in San Francisco, CA
Did a takeout order of their kalbijjim for dinner. The stew comes with two bowls of rice (choice of white or purple) and some... kimchi (radish, cabbage and green onions). The stew itself is large, but very heavy on starch - rice cakes, carrots andpotatoes. We didn't find the short ribs to be very substantial, and surprisingly they were not that tender. The overall flavorwas also a bit too sweet. Overall, $75 is a VERY steep ask - basically double what I thought the dish was actually worth. Read more
My sister said the last time she ordered the beef soup, it was like the broth in the bowl was hiding among the slices of meat... and noodles. But this time around when I went with her, she noticed that the meat was drowning in broth that you have to digdeep to reach for the meat and noodles???????????? Our orders were really hot that I almost burned my tongue but they were sooogood that we had to share the dishes between the two of us. Read more
Ordered Kalbitang and Seullongtang for take-out and both were very good. Meat was super tender. But the soups were already... seasoned and a bit too salty for my taste. I had to dilute it down by adding more water. The white rice that came with was dry.Kimchi banchan provided was just ok. Read more
Stopped in to order the infamous kalbijim. Decided to get the kalbijim with oxtail (medium spicy level), extra meat, noodles,... rice cake, and purple rice. It was kinda pricey but it was a hefty portion (felt like about 10 lbs). It normally feeds 3-4people according to the staff. It came with some boncon, kimchee, green onion kimchee, and radish kimchee. The short ribs wereextremely tender and flavorful. The oxtail was also tender but not as flavorful as the short ribs. So 2 of us shared this andwe still had enough for basically 3 more servings. So in actuality price was ok. My mom tried it and she liked it and askedwhere we bought it from. Overall good food, and while I like oxtail I think next time I'll just get the short ribs. Read more
It was my first-time visit. I ordered a $71 Galbee-jjim dish to go. I was told it would serve 3-4 people. But they gave me only... one small pack of Banchan. I asked them more but the server said one Banchan pack per dish, and I have to pay $5 for each extrapack????! That was Awful! ??Contrary to my banchan issue, the food was very good, and I'd order again. Read more
The best beef you'll get anywhere in town. Their seafood beef soup was so tasty that we always get it. And their Kalbijjim with... cheese is not only a treat to your stomach, but a treat to your eye too. We used to go to their Japantown location all the time, but we are so glad they open this second location in Ocean View. Read more
