Classy looking restaurant - red leather interior and a nicely stenciled sign-board; I wasn?t hungry and therefore had cheese... cake and cappuccino; both were good; Owner?s wife is convivial; the owner seems to have stepped out from a film about organizedcrime but he does have charm. It doesn?t seem like a place to linger unless you sit indoors. I didn?t hear any musicsoundtrack. I wonder if there was any. Will go back for a proper meal. Patrons are mostly young and local though touristsannoyingly stop by to ask directions. Read more
Amazing dinner with our family visiting from Canada. Service was impeccable. We were welcomed warningly by owners Stephanie and... Mario. Everyone agreed that it was the best Italian meal ever. The restaurant was packed with people on Saturday night. We wereglad we had reservations. The entire bill for our party of 8 was surprisingly low considering appetizers, entrees, desserts andseveral bottles of wine. Outside seating was comfortable and filled with a great vibe. Owners constantly interacted withcustomers while adding levity to a very lively evening. Read more
Very basic looking but excellent place. The characterful waiter (owner?) guided our food and wine choices and everything was... really good. Unhurried service and reasonable value. Read more
Caffè Macaroni is truly a five star, genuine Italian experience. Mario and Stephanie, the owners, have been there 32 years and... make you feel at home like you are in Italy. I?m very skeptical of Italian restaurants. My family are Italian immigrants andown a popular Italian restaurant ourselves so I?m reluctant to try Italian but glad I did with this recommendation. The whiteanchovy appetizer is hard to find and we?re immaculate. Same with the carpaccio. The Nero seafood pasta had giant muscles andmore. If you want Italian and are in SF, this is a MUST go. Super excited to try this restaurant based off some of the raving reviews. We were especially looking forward to the house bread... with dipping olive oil. We were not impressed with the ravioli with pesto drizzle, the black risotto with dry salmon, and thestrawberry lemonade. The ravioli and sauce tasted like something store bought. The pesto drizzle was actually good. Thestrawberry lemonade was mixed with too much strawberry syrup and the black risotto had dry salmon chunks. The ?amazing? housebread and olive oil turned out to be not so special and mixed with a couple dried green spices and some raw minced garlic. Donot recommend. Read more
