My husband and I came here to try the beautiful sandos we saw on TikTok! Not only were they just as gorgeous as well imagines,... but they tasted amazing. The chicken katsu sando blew every other katsu I\'ve had out of the water. Read more

Looked quickly at the menu and decided on a beef gyu-Don. Came out within a few minutes… at the same time I got my hojicha... latte. The beef itself had some flavor but I felt like the overall fish was a little dry, even a little jus from the beef wouldhave helped. The hojicha latte had some tea flavor but mostly tasted like milk, I’d expect a stronger tea flavor. Lastly, minor detail but I was charged $3 for an egg though it’s supposed to cost $2.50 Read more

Cafe Okawari was sneakily suggested to me for lunch by Google Maps, and I liked it!\n\nHistorically, chicken katsu here were... made with halal chicken but due to supply chain issues, this wasn\'t so when I visited. Nonetheless, I ordered the chicken katsudon and the fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.\n\nMy preference would be to have more tonkatsusauce and sesame sauce for the cabbage, but I was happy with my meal. Food is very simple but tastes good. Giving 5 stars most importantly for the customer service. Would appreciate a little more... creativity in the menu but that\'s just my personal preference, there is nothing wrong with the current menu. Read more

Had the chicken katsu sandwich for a quick lunch and it was very healthy and light. The flavors were popping and the pickles... were necessary.\n\nLoved it, but quite pricy for the size. ($17.82) Read more

This was not worth it. They are expensive, which I wouldn’t mind if the flavor was spot-on. Unfortunately the flavor was... mediocre. The Katsu had no flavor and the curry sauce was mediocre. My mouth was salivating for it being somewhat *close* to adivine curry I had in Japan given the price point…but alas the curry tasted like it came from the ‘Golden curry’ orsimilar mix you get from the grocery store. For me\nit doesn’t justify the $18 base price for the dish in the photo.\n\nIcontinue my search for good Japanese curry in SF! Read more

I didn’t know about this place until one of the founders told me about it and invited me!! GPS location is little off and tree... blocks off the name if walking from 3rd st towards 4st street. Cafe is right across from The Beacon roundabout (at the lusk stlights) I ordered Katsu Chicken Plate… wait time was around 3 minutes. During that time I clicked few pictures of the cafe andlooked around. Staff was friendly but something was off about customer service. The plate had small portion of rice, and greenswith chicken on the top, and a small container of sauce. It was little dry, I saw them pouring a gravy/sauce in a biggercontainer and I thought it was for me, but no. I would have to give it another try, for me to actually judge the place. I willdefinitely be back and will order something else. Over all food was good, first Halal Japanese food in the city that I tried, customer service can be little improved, but it definitely is 5 ?? from me!! Read more
