Reviews for Bota Tapas & Paella Bar in San Francisco, CA
Catering to captive guests staying at Warwick, it appears they have no incentive to deliver value. Warwick guests are allowed a... free glass of wine each evening - it's a special stemless glass with barely 4 sips! The tapas portions are tiny - 4 med sizedgarlic shrimps for $18 - neither the ambiance nor the food justified that price. To top it off we had a waiter who was in thewrong profession. We were visiting a Warwick guest. If anyone asks, I'll steer them away from Bota and from the Warwick. Sorry,I will not be going back. Read more
Heirloom tomatoes and fried potatoes were delicious. Meatball wasn't flavorful without a spoonful of the sauce. Meat paella was... a good dish to share, but the oxtail wasn't what we expected - my husband said it was nasty. The service was okay - probablyshort staffed. Read more
Burned bacon wrapped dates…yuck. Garlic shrimp was very meh. Food arrived, dumped by a kitchen helper and the waitress never... checked to see if everything was good. Never. Had to find her to get the check after I was done eating. Read more
It's a rare treat when you find a hotel thar actually cares about their lobby bar/restaurants. I mean, you get it. Their concern... lays with the rooms, the parking situation, and so on. However, as a traveler, sometimes you don't want to travel far to enjoy agood meal and a good cocktail or glass of wine. Thats what The Warwick Hotel in San Francisco has done with BOTA. It's elevateddining without being overly complicated. The space is intimate yet makes use of that space not to make you feel crowded. Thedecor is comfortable and adds to the flow of the room. The wall paintings are a point of conversation. The food for me,personally, was a step up for me as a fledgling foodie because I had no idea how much I would enjoy the seared shisito peppers, but I really did. My squid was seared to perfection with the perfect amount of char. All in all, this made for an enjoyablenight in for my holiday in San Francisco. Read more
Bota has a very hip and cute ambiance. You can choose to sit at a high top table or standard. We ordered the Jamon Serrano... charcuterie board, pulpo, patatas bravas (my favorite dish ever), and paella valencia. The Jamon charcuterie board - delicious!I wish there was manchego cheese with this and more bread. But overall very delicious. Pulpo - the light in my husband's eyeswhen he ate it and tasted it warmed my little heart. He said it reminded him of Spain and tasted exactly how he remembered it.You know it's good if you're getting flashbacks (lol). Patatas Bravas - my husband and I were split. He likes his potatoes moreon the crispier/burnt side and I felt that they hit the mark exactly. I like my potatoes golden and crisp. The sauce wasamazing. Paella Valenciana - this dish was average. My husband and I both felt as if it was missing something. But the dishwasn't too bad. But for sure we would have reconsidered a $50 dish if it wasn't going to deliver. Overall our visit here wasgood. The tapas were amazing. When we come back we will stick to tapas only. Read more

The G&T paired with the Seafood Paella ???? transported me right back to España. From the tapas to the the dessert, we were not... disappointed. Honestly, we were so full the last thing on our mind was dessert. But Sergio was so wonderful, we decided to makeroom for the caramel churros con chocolate (no regrets). Good music, classy ambiance, great service and fare. If you’relooking for a place to snack on tapas or go all in on the paella, this is the place to avoid the crowds of Union Square whileenjoying each other’s company! P.S. If you have left over garlic oil from gambas appetizer, save it and poor it on thepaella! Read more
