Food is incredibly delicious! I went more than once. Tried the chicken karaage, chicken katsu curry and shrimp katsu curry and... not disappointed with any! One of the best Japanese food places in SF! Portions are extremely filling and prices are reasonable.Friendly staff and quick service. Definitely one of my favourite spots Read more

Beautiful interior with equally good food! Got the mentaiko spaghetti, katsu curry, and karaage! The best was definitely the... spaghetti. Katsu curry was good but similar to other ones I?ve had in SF. Also got the tart as dessert which was not too sweet(Asian compliment!) but overpriced ($12.50 for a little slice). Otherwise, loved the vibe and food! Read more

Bon Nene is a must return for me! Food is flavorful, colorful and well portioned. We ordered the goat cheese salad, tonkatsu... curry and gyudon (pictured), as well as the royal milk tea and the Edomachi beer. Our check also came with a complimentarychocolate pocky stick for each guest - so cute! Read more

Conflicting dining experience when compared to reviews and photos posted. Firstly, their small menu led us to the impression... that they focus on what they do best, cutting the choice dilemma out of the equation. This promising sign took a turn when thefood arrived close to an hour after placing our order. Looking nothing like the dazzling photos I've seen featured by otherreview writers, I was disappointed not just by the presentation but also by the long wait. The garnish was chopped haphazardly, splashed on there with little care. The smear glob of wasabi was as if it was an afterthought. Stringy maguro over rice wascertainly not a choice cut. Although crisp, the katsu was half sunken in the sauce, and the accompanying egg was overcooked. Asad, pathetic broccoli floret tucked next to the rice clump like it was ashamed to be in the bowl. The binding element of thisdish was lackluster. It was reminiscent of store-bought S&B curry cubes. I cannot vouch for the taste of this curry. The gyozawas insipid without the vinaigrette dipping sauce. However, the crunch of the starch crisp encircling the dumplings was a nicetouch. A far cry from a supposedly proud Japanese establishment. The attention to detail and craft did not come through. Thehour wait was not worth my valuable time. It saddens me that my experience did not live up to the claims of others who havedinned here. The food was baseline average and not a sensational five stars any means. Being seated outdoors made gettingattention from the waiting staff a struggle. At this rate, I refuse to jump to conclusions about a restaurant's lauding claimswithout digging deeper into contrasting opinions. Reviews like that frustrate me in that they don't serve much purpose outsideof getting likes and views My hard-earned money deserves the respect I put into earning it, and so should yours. Overall, anokay attempt but not enough to bring me back. Read more

My gf and I have been to Bon Nene multiple times, and they never disappoint. You have to get their Champignon pasta, but... everything on the menu is tasty. In the photos, we got the Champignon pasta, tofu bowl, katsu curry, cheesecake, and an onigiri(not shown) Read more
