Reviews for BodegaSF in San Francisco, CA
Bodega is a fantastic addition to the SF-Bay Area Vietnamese food scene with a small menu featuring some of my favorite... Vietnamese dishes. The n?m has all the expected flavors of the more commonly found papaya salad but executed perfectly withthinly shaved papaya. The whole fish ch? cá and the lamb chops were tasty, but the most spectacular dish was the bánh cu?n.The rice crepes were perfectly thin with just enough elasticity to hold in the filling. The poached bean sprouts and ch? giòwere a nice touch. The dessert featured a wonderful combination of lychee ice cream and pandan. Bodega is a great restaurant tosurvey the some of the classic flavor profiles that distinguishes Vietnamese cuisine. Service was friendly, our waitresspatiently explained the menu in great detail. Ordered 3 appetizers and one entree cause we were in a rush. Surprisingly good overall. Everything was pretty solid. Slight... twist on traditional vietnamese dishes but still didn't lose the part of the dish that makes it good. Would come back again. Read more
We stopped at this place and we’re told that the bar had open seating. We did not have to wait long for a spot for two to open... up. It was nice to watch the drinks being made. The cocktails were decent. Appetizers were really good and I enjoyed them morethan the entrees. Service was a tad slow but since I was catching up with a friend the pace seemed ok. Read more
Great ambiance, great service, loved the food. What we got: Bo Tai Chanh, Chilean Sea Bass, Crab noodles in a clay pot... (special), lucky Buddha beer, Bo Luc Lac, Oysters with Yuzu foam, Mango Calamansi Spritz, Sugar cane calamansi juice, a night inSaigon cocktail and a cocktail with lemon grass in it. Personally my favorite was the Chilean Sea Bass. Good portion, the basswas cooked very well. Flavors were amazing. The beer was nice and light, not too heavy and works well with the food. My secondfavorite was the Bo Tai Chanh, had a good amount of crunch and texture because of the fried garlic/onion. The nouc mam/fishsauce had a good amount of citrus. The two non alcoholic drinks were good. The mango spritz tasted very sweet like mangoicecream. The calamansi sugar cane juice was dangerously good. Similar to lemonade but not too artificially sweet likeminutemaid. The oysters were interesting with the foam. There was a surprising crunch and I never found out what it was. Itwasn't part of the shell but it was still an interesting experience. The night in Saigon cocktail comes to you looking like ahot chocolate. The menthe is mainly in the whipped cream on top. The coffee and Hennessy flavors are very strong. Our table didnot like the drink that much since it was very strong and different. The lemon grass cocktail wasn't that bad. The citrus inthe drink covers a lot of the alcohol flavor but it's still an aftertaste. Still very refreshing. Read more

Looks like a fairly new place that opened recently. We just stumbled upon it while visiting SF and craving pho. The noodles are... bit thicker than what you normally expect in pho but both the bodega beef pho and the vegan pho were great. The atmosphere isclean and nice and the prices were reasonable. I've been hoping to try this place for a while and it did not disappoint. I live near Vietnamtown in San Jose (meaning I'm not... hurting for authentic Vietnamese cuisine), so it's worth noting Bodega was fantastic and held up against my local options.Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, and the noodles were phenomenal. The char level was also perfect, as was thehouse-made hot sauce. Looking forward to our next SF visit so we can come again. ?? Read more
WOW I was blown away by this place. A little mad at myself for not coming here earlier. I traveled and ate around Vietnam quite... a bit and this place is on par with the best Vietnamese food I’ve got. We ordered lemongrass clams, rice rolls, gambas, boluc lac, bun cha, and sea bass. The fish and the rice rolls weren’t outstanding, but the other dishes were AAMAZING.Especially the clams, bun cha and bo luc lac. The green dessert whose name I forgot was out of this world - the best dessertI’ve had in a long time. Read more
