(read to the bottom especially if you're also staying in the hotel!) Maybe it's because I've spent the past three weeks here,... but I've really enjoyed this spot. Julia, Jay, and Thomas are excellent barkeeps with fascinating backgrounds -- just ask, they're happy to chat if the bar isn't too busy. Maybe grab a "gold rush" too (pictured), especially if you want to try asurprising and fresh take on an old fashioned. The barkeeps and the staff are all extremely friendly and have been with therestaurant for decades. (Ken is particularly dextrous!) The food is great too, if you're looking for a bite to eat. My go-tosare the wings (both flavors are great, but I'm team sweet chili), the tartrate, and the salmon, depending on what I'm feeling.Of course, you can always ask the staff for recommendations, they've all been with the establishment for so long! For the hotelpatrons, this is an excellent place to stop by every night for a barside ritual. After all, you're already obliged to pay forthe **DAILY** $25 hotel credit, so remember to tip up to $25 (or higher!) if you haven't used your credit yet, and get anamazing time in return. Read more

Excellent hotel bar. Big, relaxed, quiet with good food, a very friendly bartender and even power outlets for charging. Great... spot to sit and work on a Saturday evening. Read more

This is a review on policy and service. I will never dine here again and I will absolutely never recommend anyone go to this... restaurant again. There?s a hundred places to eat in the immediate area. Don?t waste your time with wait staff that lacksbasic problem solving and communication skills. Might as well be talking to a robot. I live in the neighborhood just abovethis restaurant/hotel and I also work with companies in the immediate Union Sqaure Area. I interface with a lot of tourists andhost people visiting for business within my own industry. For years I have recommended this restaurant to many people visitingand for small meetings etc. All this being said I have been here many, many times. A few nights ago I casually stopped by tohave a quick bite and go over some paperwork. Upon entering and being seated I was told there was a $20 min - no problem... Iordered a few things from the waiter Ken, who then proceeded to tell me that I?d need to provide a credit card to open a tab orprovide him with my room number. I told him I wasn?t staying I. The hotel and I only had cash on me at the time, no cards, Ilet him know I?d be paying cash..(I was seated at a small table far from the bar, not ordering any alcohol). I let Ken knowthat I didn?t need a tab and I could pay him right then with cash. He said he couldn?t do that, he said the policy was that hemust secure a credit card or have a room number. I repeated that I could pay upfront and again he said the card is needed toverify a $50 hold that would be returned to the card a few days later. Ken was very rude and dismissive. It became a veryuncomfortable back and forth in which I was essentially being told I couldn?t eat there without a $50 credit card securitydeposit (to sit in a hotel lobby restaurant).... I understand some businesses operate primarily on CC now, no problem (indicatethat). However, to require patrons to secure a $50 credit card deposit to order food even after payment. Read more
