Reviews for Basil the Bold in San Francisco, CA
The best tofu I have ever tasted!! Definitely coming back!
Delicious and hearty meal! Nice to have something new (and good) in the Bayview that isn't over priced. Got the hearty bowl. ... I don't usually eat much tofu, but since its marinated made it sound better, and it was!! Chickpeas were also a good addition. Chicken was indeed nice and crunchy while still being juicy and tender. Will def go back for more! Read more
I ordered the burrito while at Laughing Monk Brewery and it was so good! It came quick and was very filling. I took half home to... eat later. I?ll definitely order again. Read more
Had the build your own bowl with a tofu and chicken combo. The chicken is to DIE for. It?s just the right amount of crispy and... it?s very juicy and flavorful. It pairs very nicely with the sauce and my opinion remains the same with the tofu. I like howthere?s a nice balance with the protein, veggies and the carbs. Would definitely go back again to order from here Read more
This restaurant is amazing. The chicken sandwich has so many ingredients, flavors, and the fish sauce to dip in. It was... OVERFLOWING too! I tried the XX Hot and my mouth is on fire! I rarely find a restaurant with spicy options that live up to theexpectations of really hot authentic spices, and still be delicious. Be warned! I ordered delivery via Uber Eats and put a notein the order about the sauce. Panpan wrote back a hand written message confirming she cares about her customers and her food. Iwill be back many, many times! Read more
With how popular Thai food is around here, I?m shocked I haven?t tried a BYO (build your own) concept with this cuisine until... now. I had a bunch of Basil the Bold?s menu items for pickup and loved all of them. Like with many other BYO spots, I wasexpecting the flavors to be dumbed down a bit, but I was pleasantly surprised at how bold everything was. It definitely lived upto the name. The heat level is customizable, from ?no chili? up to ?bold?, and you can add on XX Hot Fried Chili too. I?m notvegan, but I enjoyed the vegan options as well. The crispy tofu in the vegan Larb the Laotian was my favorite of all thedishes. I also loved the crispy chicken with the tempura batter. The chewy noodles I had in my BYO bowl was nicely al dente. The side salads were super fresh, and the Tum the Thai (som tum papaya salad) is also vegan itself. You can get real deal fishsauce on the side. I picked up my order directly at the ghost kitchen location, and they are also on the delivery apps. Thewait was a bit long, but it?s new and just a one woman team right now. I didn?t try any of the sandwiches yet (made with AcmeBanh Mi Bread), that will be my lunch soon! Read more
Had the BYO Sandwich - Crispy Deluxe with Hearty Deluxe Protein. One of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've had by far. Very... unique from flavors and what was in it. The tofu was crisped to perfection and the fried chicken was fantastic. Mixed with agreat selection of sauces and herbs too. Really good portion sizing for the price too. Definitely will be coming back again. Thanks for the great food! :D Read more
