Reviews for B44 Catalan Bistro in San Francisco, CA
Loved this place! You can order from the Spanish inspired menu or the French menu of their sister restaurant. All dishes were... great, though we found the french dishes edged out the Spanish as our faves. Staff was wonderful and atmosphere was delightful. All in all a great date night! Read more
B44, owned by French-Espanish entrepreneur has combined best of two countries' culinary heritage. In addition to the Paellas del... Mar and Steak au Poivre, at B44 you will find an authentic European hospitality and veritable spirits! Top choices for me arethe ahi tuna ceviche, the paellas and of course the moules marinier. Additionally, I dig their burger and octo app dish alongwith a pint of fresh squeezed cold Alsacian Kronenburg beer. Prices here are not a cheat and the food is delectable. I guessEuropeans know a thing or 2 about culinary and hospitality. 5 stars from me! Read more
They offered the best paella I've ever tried! And the baby octopus and French onion soup were great too! The waiter and waitress... were nice, however the experience could be better if the front desk lady got more smile on her face. But generally I'd rate 5stars cuz the dishes were so good. Read more
My husband and I had a 6:30 reservation, but we missed it as our prior engagement ran late. We got there an hour later and... thankfully they had one table available; however, it was located outside the tent, in the middle of the alley lol. We felt likethe step children, but we were famished so we took it. All staff was super friendly and accommodating. I had the B44 paellaand my husband had the beef and chorizo burger. My paella was out of this world delicious! The rice was very well seasoned, lots of flavor and had shrimp, chicken, squid, mussels, peas, and green beans. They give you a generous portion. For dessert, Ihad the crema catalana which is similar to creme brulee - it was absolutely delectable! My husband also enjoyed his burger. The food more than made up for us sitting outside the tent. We will definitely return. Read more
Spanish but not that Spanish. It was good - the tapas were pretty good and aligned with what you could find in a decent... restaurant in Spain, but the Paella was nowhere near the level you can get in Spain. The desserts were OK and the atmospherepretty relaxed. Enjoyable in groups, but if you are in for a real spanish experience you might be able to find better, althoughI am not sure if in the area. Ambience feels rather Spanish. A selection of Tapas and other dishes, service a bit slow. Quality is fine but not overly... exciting. Best choices for us where the fried lambs with garlic and pastas bravas, also the chevice but we asked for only limeon it and not the regular one which also contains ketchup (!?!) in the sauce. 3.5 stars. The food was pretty good, but nothing overly special for the price. was recommended the brisket cannelloni and it was... just ok. Brisket had not a lot of flavor and the sauce was just ok. The fried calamari was the best item. Great crunch, plentyof seasoning and not overly battered. Not my favorite but would give it a second try. Read more
Excellent food, drinks, service, value. The mussels are consistently great. Everything done with an opinion, never boring or... bland. Very nice heated cozy patio. Read more
