Reviews for A La Turca in San Francisco, CA
Most awful dining experience tonight! Friend and I arrive, we take a while to order because we’re really looking at our... options, we’d been looking at the menu for about 15 minutes. Group of four arrives sits directly next to us. My friend and Iorder a few things including lentil soup and a Turkish appetizer pizza. After a few minutes the table next to us also orders, they’d been sitting all of five minutes and had already gotten their complimentary bread. We did not. We see the one and onlywaitress carrying a bowl of soup, we clear some room at our table but she serves the table next to us their soup first eventhough we’d ordered before them. Our main dishes come out on plates that resemble generic buffet plates. My friend and I lookat each other incredibly disappointed, I try my food. Awful.Terrible. I could seriously cook better than this and I’m amediocre cook. This tastes like leftovers of tomato sauce and chicken thrown together from scraps out of an almost emptyrefrigerator. We made a horrible mistake-our entrees each come out to about $20. Our soup is finally on the table-bland. We askfor bread and the woman brings it over. We had to ask for bread while others didn’t have to ask. Our moods are getting darkerand darker the longer we sit in this restaurant. I see the woman bringing over the appetizer pizza. Hopefully this at least willbe good! Well holy #%#$& she delivers the pizza to the table next to us…even though we had ordered it first! We sit and wait, wait, wait for our pizza-my friend says something about the pizza but I interrupt her because I don’t want to sit in thisplace any longer nor do I want to give these people any more of my money. After a few minutes the woman comes back to our tableand remembers we had also ordered the pizza. I tell her never mind we don’t want it anymore. I seriously just want to leave. Iam not one to throw food out but this garbage needs to be where it belongs in the compost. I’m not even taking these leftovers Read more
Good food and good service. We will be back.
Overall a very nice place with some good Mediterranean food. Just keep in mind the price is usually double in San Francisco.... Food is also halal which is a plus. ( stuff may be pricey for the quantity.) Read more
I had no idea how badly I needed this meal until I ate here! It's a hidden gem and completely worth the stop. Not being very... familiar with Turkish food, my husband and I split a cold appetizer combo plate and a hot appetizer plate, and it was a perfectmeal. The Turkish tea is strong and tasty. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Read more
A great tucked away spot you never knew about. That's house I'm going to remember this place. Menu had soo many yummy items, I... ended up going with the basic to get a taste for the place. The Döner was great after a long walk; the rice was lightlyflavored, bread was delicious & baked in house, house made soup sauce to accompany it all, but the salad could use some love.Veggies in the salad tasted like those precut bags from Safeway (kinda soggy & no crunch) would be better with some freshcut. 4/5 as everything else was great, definitely going back to explore that menu. Solid Mediterranean option. I always order the combo appetizer plate so wanted to try theirs - pretty standard with the hummus... and baba, but the ezme was DELISH. Also have to say these were the best dolmas I’ve ever had. Pita bread tasted homemade andfresh as well. Combo grill plate was also good (adana was the best) but the mezze plate definitely wins. Great customer service and staff are very attentive and making sure you enjoy your meal. The la Manchu is great and bread is... nice and crispy. The chicken plate is also very good and chicken is well cooked. Read more
A small hidden gem. The service is great and so is the food.
