Reviews for Uncle Chai Thailand Street Food in San Diego, CA
Came on Sunday. Food was good but it was extremely spicy and the young guys behind the counter acted dumb and refused to give me... a cup of water. Wanted me to pay for a bottle only..will go elsewhere next time. Read more
I had a really bad experience ordering take out from here. There was a young guy at the counter who seemed disinterested in... taking order from the beginning. When I asked him what protein one of the special fried rice had, he barely spoke. After placingthe order I requested to make the items spicy. The young man then started yelling at me in a very rude manner. After this Iasked for refund and left. No customer should be treated in this way. And to do this in front of the Buddha statue they proudlydisplay is shameful. Read more
This is a small takeout place that serves delicious Thai food. The food is some of the most flavorful Thai food I have ever... had. Also, if requested for the food to be spicy, beware the food will be spicy even by asian standards. Delicious, wish I couldrate more. Read more
I?ve ordered food from here two night in a row now, so it?s time to leave a wonderful review. The Tom Kha Gai soup was... delicious! I ordered mine with medium heat and it had a nice subtle burn, just right. The mushrooms were delightful. I trulycan?t wait to eat this soup again. The night before I enjoyed the Kow Kang Massaman Nue curry. It too was perfectly enjoyable. Both nights I ordered the mango sticky rice for dessert. The rice was just the right texture, the mango was wonderfully ripe, and there was just the right amount of coconut creme topping. Give this place a try! Read more
Quality affordable Thai food. I?ve been here four times in the past week and a half. Given the area, which can be a bit pricy... for food (highly competitive area), Uncle Chai is well worth your time. Presently all the entrees are only $7.50 There are afew other good Thai spots in Pacific Beach but you can?t beat these prices. What?s even better is the delicious flavor of thefood. I?ve had about half a dozen items so far and they?ve all been solid. Kuai Tiao Khua Gai is one of my favorites. Boththe Kow Mun Gai (chicken) and Kow Prik King Moo (pork) have sauces packed with flavor and depth. Both soups offered are topnotch (Tom Yum Gai & Tom Kha Gai). Also, if it?s not sold out the Sticky Rice is well worth your time. Bottom line, you justcan?t beat the quality, flavor and affordable prices of Uncle Chai. If you?re in PB and need a Thai fix, give this small ownedbusiness a try. ???????? UPDATE: Had the Hoi Tod on the owner?s recommendation and it?s solid. The mussel pancake is tastyand savory. A good change of pace dish. Read more
I lived in Thailand teaching English for a semester and every day I?d eat moo ping and sticky rice for lunch. I never got sick... of it, and it became one of my favorite meals. It?s so difficult to find this dish in the US and especially difficult to findit for an affordable price. I am so so happy that I now found Uncle Chai Thailand Street food and am able to get moo ping andsticky rice for as little as $3 (if I were to get just one skewer). It was delicious and tasted just as I remember in Thailand.???? I will absolutely be returning, a lot! ?? Read more

This place is usually the best, but last night they served my family noodles that were unreasonably spicy, my children couldn't... even eat their dinner. Im very disappointed and I expect whoever was cooking last night to be fired. Read more
