We were driving down from Pala and were on the hunt for a lunch spot as we all were starving and came across The Shop. It had... been a while since any of us had deep-dish pizza, so we decided to give this place a try. - PARKING - Shares a large parkinglot with tons of other businesses and grocery shops so you don't have to worry about lack of space! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT- They have outdoor and indoor seating available, and they let us choose where we wanted to sit. Pretty spacious and it lookslike they combined a few tables for a larger group, so if you have more than 6 people it looks doable! The staff was friendlyand attentive, but the pizza felt like it took longer than usual. Due to the long wait time, I think we all anticipated it to befilled to the brim with cheese and fillings. - FOOD - North County Deep Dish Pizza (Large - $33.00): Large comes with 8 slices,which sounds like a lot for a deep-dish pizza, but it filled us up pretty well. I personally don't eat too much and also beinglactose-intolerant, dairy fills me up quickly... but I was able to eat two slices. I think we were all a bit disappointed in thelack of filling. I only got 2 chunks of meatballs between my two slices, and most of my bites were filled with tomato sauce andnot much cheese even. The crust was a bit dry as well, and although most of the filling was tomato sauce, the crust definitelyneeded more help. - OVERALL - I think I have my go-to spot for deep-dish pizza in San Diego, and The Shop isn't it. Update review: We came here to try their thin crust!!! It is so good as well, I don’t know how they can hold so heavy toppings... and keep juicy so well on such thin crispy crust. It is real delicious. But I’ll say if I choose, I will stay with deep dish,because their deep dish is probably the best so far in San Diego. I love their corn meal crust. We tried their arugula & beetsalad, they are yummy! I love. Plus their Sunday has $5 sangria all day! What a deal. You can’t miss it. Previous review: Ournew favorite pizza spot in our neighborhood. I’m so glad we found here. It’s still kind of a new place so it doesn’t haveso many reviews. But you should trust how much people love here so far. The pizza we tried is their home-made meatball deep dishpizza, it was super deep dished with a lot of cheese and sauce and meatballs! The bottom crust is pretty thin for a deep dish,the side crust is crunchy and yummy! The crust tastes like “corn bread” to me. I also loved their cocktails, they looked sonice, tasted nice and professional! We will come back here for sure and will try the normal traditional pizza too. Read more

Their “deep-dish pizza” was extremely mediocre. Like another review said, the crust was basically a cracker. I didn’t come... here for ritz! Very low in flavor, thank god for the crushed pepper!
