Tough call if I prefer this location or the Little Italy one. This one is located at One Paseo in Del Mar and in the fall and... winter it's the perfect place to enjoy amazing ice cream while sitting by the outdoor fire. The ice cream flights are a must,and definitely try the seasonal flavors that change every month. The flavors may sound a little weird, especially when theyinclude real chunks of the main ingredients, but they really do perfectly blend salty and sweet. Read more
Ice cream is delish! It?s a good idea to taste as much as you want first including all the weird flavors just so you know what... they taste like, but I often find it?s hard to beat their classic flavors. Salted caramel and cookie dough are insanelydelightful. Read more
Good consistency, fantastic homemade cones, and helpful staff, but way too much sugar, and there are no classic flavors to... balance out what is at times a bit too much innovation. I?ve been to hundreds of ice cream shops all over the world and sadlythis one is in the bottom 5. Consider introducing some flavors with less sugar, dark chocolate, pistachio or other nut flavors. I loved the creative flavors they had! They gave me a free pint of their least favorite ice cream which was really great. I just... wish their ice creams were less sweet and leaned into the funkiness of the funky flavors more (example, the blue cheese and pearcould have been more blue cheese-y). All in all, would definitely come by again, the free pint really SWEETENED the deal! Read more
Had a delicious split single scoop of ice creams on a waffle cone. Bottom scoop was the chocolate gooey brownie and the top was... a specialty ?flower power series? Pistachio rose water strawberry mochi. I loved the pistachio and my husband loved thechocolate. Samples are offered on request in metal spoons which I greatly appreciated. Used metal spoons go into a receptacle inthe bottom of the counter. U can also buy frozen ice cream pints to go! For those who appreciate gourmet and unusual flavorsthis is a must try. Read more

No matter where you go, or where you are, folks love ice cream. It?s an ratting as well as a social experience. Waiting in line,... looking at the flavors, watching the scooper scoop, sitting around the outdoor fire pit while you enjoy your pick! Salt &Straw has that all! I've tried at different locations and the ice cream is flawless. Downright excellent. Had to walk right out tonight because... although there are 3 employees, they keep bouncing back to and from the register and my scooper never changed his gloves. Iwatched him make change twice and then proceed to pick up cones with the same gloves. All of this cross contamination could beprevented if you had one person on the register. We just got out of a pandemic - do better! Read more
