If I can give more than 5 stars, I would. We found this by accident while looking for a place to have date night at and so glad... that we ended up making reservations at this place. From the ambiance to the servers and to the food were all perfection. Verycozy, quiet, and intimate restaurant. We went on a Sunday night too so very impressed of the noise level. We sat upstairs andhad a view of the main street. Food was amazing! I wish I could make my pasta like theirs! Coffee was great too, wish I couldtry their cappuccino. For dessert, their tiramisu was a big portion & just perfection. Luca was also very friendly andattentive. He kept checking in on us and wanted to make sure everything was good. Honestly, their staff was like that which justenriched our experience. The only thing is that parking can be challenging so definitely try to come earlier than yourreservation (but so are the other places along Little Italy). 100/10 highly recommend this hidden gem! Our son wanted to celebrate his birthday at this restaurant. It’s very busy and best if you call ahead to secure a table. The... servers were great but we didn’t all enjoy our food. My appetizer of fried calamari was a bit over cooked and tasteless. Thechicken parmigiana was well- cooked and very good. The dessert was delicious and was great as a birthday cake. This place is amazing! I ate their pesto pasta and it was amazing, one of the best pesto I’ve had. My boyfriend got the spicy... pasta and it was extremely spicy, so beware if you are going to order that. We sat outside at around 8/9 pm and it was a niceexperience, our server was very friendly too. This was my first time here, so it was a little confusing trying to find theplace, it’s actually upstairs of the pizzeria, they have a small entrance to the right of the pizzeria. Ristorante Illando is an intimate hidden gem located in little Italy, San Diego. This charming Tuscan trattoria is one of my... favorite restaurants in town. The restaurant itself is located upstairs above Landini’s. We sat in the front; I didn’t getto go in the dining room area or the backyard patio, it was hot out but the ocean breeze was nice so we opt to sit outside. Iover heard from another table say that it can get a bit warm in the main dining room, just fyi. Ordered *Feta e Olive mixedgreens, feta cheese & Kalamata olives *Calamari Fritti deep fried calamari, shrimp & jalapeño *Pappardelle Bolognese housemademeat sauce Every dish we ordered was superb! We had the most amazing experience here and can't wait to go back! It's easy to miss this little spot of heaven but once you... find it, you'll never go anywhere else! Service was impeccable! Our server shared so many wonderful stories of the food, therestaurant and his family, we truly felt like family! The food though, I mean, wow, just wow!! The calamari has a couple shrimpas well and jalapeno slices. I've never had calamari and jalapenos and now I will never want it any other way! Takes it over thetop! We also had the meatballs which were again, amazing! The sauce was nice and light so the meatballs were the star. Then camethe most stunning entree, the Short Rib Tortellini! The sauce is perfection, the pasta fresh and tender and the short rib justmelts in your mouth! I can't wait to return to try more specialties and hang out with our new family! I highly recommend! We had a reservation on a busy Saturday night as were seated right away. The service was amazing and they were very attentive to... all the guests. Starting off, their bread was delicious. I got the mushroom risotto (the regular non vegan one). Wow it wasdelicious. For desert was the tiramisu. It was creamy, light, and moist. I will 100% recommend this place! Read more
One of the best Italian dinners I’ve had outside of Italy. The staff was friendly, attentive and affectionate with our party.... They provided first class service that accompanied delicious meals. First the meat lasagna was baked to perfection with thecheese cascading down the layers. Hot to touch and temperature and blessed with a wonderful amount of parmesan. 10/10 Secondthe gnocchi was the exact amount of meat to sauce ratio that I enjoy and the spices were elegant. 9.5/10 Read more
