I'm from NY and this Ramen just blew my mind. I absolutely loved it, flavor was there, portion was incredible and the wait was... short. All around well done! Staff was very quick and kind, it's a smaller shop but as people finished they didn't linger.Staff was fast to clean up and have the next group in. Very impressed by the speed and quality. Now open one up on the Eastcoast! Read more

The staff were really nice and super attentive. The food was nice enough but needs a little more salt/flavor to have been a... really great restaurant. So overall it was still a good experience but it is definitely missing that extra push to be glorious. Read more

Best ramen in San Diego. HANDS DOWN! There is AWLAYS a line and a wait so make sure to check in on Yelp when you?re close. This... place is so good that there are multiple locations! They also have a great rewards program. Any of the Ramen is amazing and sobold with flavor. Their spicy miso is just the right amount of spice and the portions are HUGE for the price. Do not skip onMenya. You?ll regret it if you do. Read more

Best bowl of ramen in SD. Very happy for them getting recognized by the Michelin guide as well. I usually go to the Kearny Mesa... location but have been to the Hillcrest one twice now since opening. First time was during their grand opening and it didn'tlive up to my usual hype but decided to try again and it was as amazing as the other locations the second time. (Costcocurrently has a great gift card deal as well that I recommend if you know you'll go multiple times) I ordered the miso chashuramen with extra noodles and an egg. Everything was perfect aside from wishing the broth was a touch more seasoned, although itgrew on me as it got concentrated. I personally like more salt than most though so really a personal issue that I could'vesolved by asking for salt/soy sauce or just ordering the shio instead but wanted to eat it how it was prepared! Girlfriend gotthe tantanmen sans the paiko although normally we do get it and it is AMAZING and unique for our area. Well balanced anddifferent profile than your regular tonkotsu style ramen for sure. Star of the show is always the noodles, thin noodles thatthe broth clings to perfectly. Also ordered a large Sapporo beer. Comes with their correct serving glass as well! They haveSociete Brewing, which their other location is across the street from, here as well which is also my favorite brewery in town, however it's hard to beat a Japanese lager with ramen in my opinion. They also had a sake list with a diagram showing where eachbottles flavor profile fit according the the quadrants. Helpful for people interested in sake without knowing thedifferences. Service was great and fast. Check what you want on the sheet you're given at seating, very unobtrusive during themeal. Sign up on the waitlist through Yelp! Although so far this location has been much easier to get into for us than theKearny location has. Interior had cool, modern designs featuring skateboard decks with art on them. The interior is quite sma Read more

Pretty sure you can never go wrong at Menya Ultra (any of the locations). Decided to make sure, so got the Paiko Tantanmen and... the Nagoya Karaage (amazing). What sets a great ramen spot apart from a decent/mediocre one is the noodles, and Menya Ultramakes their noodles daily. Huge difference in taste and texture versus some of the other shops. Read more

A much hyped place. We waited for about two hours to get a table on a Sunday evening. The servers treated us well. We started... with some shrimp gyoza and fried chicken. Both of them were too good. Three of us ordered three different ramens, mine was withfried pork cutlet on top. The broth was nice, and the pork cutlet was terrific. Overall the ramens were pretty decent, howevernothing extra ordinary. Read more

What can I say that hasn't already been said? New favorite Ramen place. Good size portion, they don't skimp on anything. Even my... kid who is a picky eater liked it. (He was going to bring the left overs but forgot it at the restaurant, ????) Forappetizers, we got the edamame, like the description says, salty but good with a a glass of water. We algo got the fried gyoza, crispy but not dry! My husband and kid got the spicy one, level one and two. If you like to have some spice but still be able toenjoy it, level 2 is the way to go. I got the #7 Negi Miso Ramen ???? with a side of hard boiled egg. Mouthwatering! I'm thetype of person that likes to enjoy the broth, but before I'm done with it I Added a bit of their table spicy sesame oil at theend, gave it some spice without compromising the flavor. Wait time was not to bad. We got there at 8:50pm got in the wait list,it said it would be a 30-40 min wait but got called around 9:09pm. The staff were nice and attentive. I do wish they were alittle more open to talk about the menu, instead of just telling us to read it lol. But I get it, sometimes not theirday. Overall, great place, definitely coming back again! Oh and they definitely follow through with wiping tables thoroughly. Read more

This is THE BEST Ramen I have tried in San Diego. Tajima and Nishiki used to be my favorites, but after this, it's Menya Ultra... all the way babyyyyyy ???? There is so much flavor in the base broth ???? When I go to other Ramen places I usually add friedgarlic and chili paste to add more flavor to the broth, but this broth was just perfect, and so creamy! It didn't need anythingextra. The noodles, oh my god, the texture is perfect and you can taste that they are freshly made. There's no rubbery feel tothem, and they're not hardened from sitting in the fridge forever and ever. Pictured is the Ajitama Shio Tonkotsu ???????? Iadded a tiny bit of chili just because I like spicy, but like I said flavor wise it didn't need anything. Amazing. 11/10 willtry again. Coming back for that Negi Miso, I'm excited to try that one! ???? Read more
