Reviews for Matteo in San Diego, CA
Matteo has a wonderful location in South Park on the corner of Juniper and 30th. It has 8-10 outdoor dining tables and inside... has large open windows. We tried the Brioche French Toast and the Seafood Examples Benedict which has three types of seafood -salmon, lobster and crab. Both dishes were very good. They also have an excellent selection of pastries. The staff were nice andfriendly. Service was also good. Best of all, Matteo is non-profit restaurant, so 100% of the profits goes towards communitycharities and causes. Read more
Loved my visit to Matteo! The ambience was lovely, the rib-eye and smashed potatoes were delicious (I recommend getting the... truffle sauce and sour cream on the side as it is a very rich sauce), and the community contributions are beautiful. While thecommunity contributions were the deciding factor in dining here, if I'm ever back in San Diego, I'll come back for Lupita'swonderful service and personality! Great experience all around! Edited to add: I was so impressed I came back 2 days later forbreakfast. The breakfast was even better than the dinner. I had the avocado caprese toast and my friend had the banana pancakeswhich we both thoroughly enjoyed! This service was once again phenomenal and I can't wait to visit again next time I'm in thearea. Walked into this cozy place for dessert and boy was I impressed. My Americano coffee and croissant were great. My eyes were so... distracted with the variety of freshly baked goods on display. While I was waiting, a variety of freshly baked bread slices andhoney butter were served. ???? I took a glance at the full dinner menu and was enticed...will be back. Parking, as usual, inthis area is scarce vut I don't mind walking a couple blocks. Restroom is clean. Service is friendly. Non-profit organizationthat contributes to our local community. Love it. ?? I got there at a perfect time, no line. So I had heard about the wings and chicken, all the rave... I tried the wings. Tasty... and bountiful. I had leftovers for lunch the next day. Oh well gee and the potato wedges, perfectly crispy n salty on theoutside and delicious throughout. Next time it's going to be the fried chicken. Read more
I came here with some clients on a busy Saturday morning for an early lunch. This restaurant has so many menus and so many... options it was a little bit overwhelming for both my clients and myself. We all finally made our decisions and placed theorder. Then we went looking for a table to sit at. The only seating that was available was outside, so we grabbed a table. Itwas a beautiful day and it was very enjoyable sitting outside. We did not have to wait too long to get our food and it wasquite tasty. The only negative was the constant barrage of flies that kept wanting to land on our food. We kept waving our handsover our food and finally they gave up and flew away. We enjoyed our meal here at Mateo and even with the fly problem, I willbe back because the food was excellent! Read more
Love this cute spot, great croissants and pastries/deserts and also chicken for dinner hah spicy chicken sandwich was bomb , and... also a great deal on wings- 10 big wings for $10. It's not as crowded as other places. You order at a counter and grab a table.Definitely recommend for a chill bite to eat. But also check it out for breakfast ???? ???????? Read more
Went on a Sunday at prime brunch hour (11:30a) and were still seated immediately which immediately made a good impression (I?m... always nervous about finding a brunch spot without at least a 30 min wait on weekends in SD). What stood out to me about thisplace was the holiday spirit (Halloween decorations) and welcoming staff. Food menu was honestly standard but there were a fewstandout items (apple pie pancakes and mole burrito). Lots of outdoor seating and open air dining room makes this covidfriendly. Would go back Read more
