Reviews for Lionfish Modern Coastal Cuisine – San Diego in San Diego, CA
Great date night at Lionfish. Popular, busy and loud place. Sort of a fusion sushi-modern cuisine approach, everything we tried... was really good. Great bartender for a pre-dinner cocktail. Good service, entire wait staff was well trained and attentive. Goodsaki list, good wine list, great food. Will definitely be back. Read more
Happy hour review: weekday happy hour from 4-6pm. Specials on drinks and bites. $1 Baja oysters were delicious and served with... a balsamic, lemon and mini tabasco sauce. We ordered all of the available appetizers and my favorites from best recommended toleast we're: NY Steak Tataki- delicious and flavorful Seared Albacore- fresh, crisp and tasty. Crispy Rock shrimp- spicy andcrunchy, one order may not be enough. Duck confit tacos- felt like the flavor was missing having four gras in thisdish. Overall a great happy hour and drink experience. Went here on a Tuesday and it was almost empty and quiet. Might be atotally different experience on a Padres game day and or Friday. Read more
We celebrated our anniversary there. I purposely made a reservation months ago and asked for a bog table/booth. We got a tiny... instead and when we asked if we can get a bigger table they just said NO, not trying to accommodate us at all. Anyway, food waspretty good. We had the beef tartare which unusual but super tasty. Then we had scallops and pork shank. My scallops weredelicious. Small portion but I didn't mind. The pork shank was a bit bland. Wouldn't order it again. We also had theor dirtyMartinis. Loved them! Blue cheese stuffed olives seemed freshly stuffed!! Not sure we would go back there but decent for datenight Read more
Went for a light dinner— assortment of oysters, grilled octopus, and the soft shell crab sushi roll. All were great! Our... server was very kind and accommodating even though they had a full house. We will definitely be back to try some sea urchin soon Read more

If you're looking for an elegant and upscale place with good service - look elsewhere. This place was loud and lacks in several... categories. Starting from the judgmental guy named Don in the front, whom depending how your dressed they will accept a walk-in.I was told there was no availability for the rest of the day - the place was maybe tops 55% full. We walked out and I called myconcierge. Within ten minutes I had a reservation with in the hour??? On to the service, the waitress was nice and somewhatattentive yet when I mentioned my experience at the entrance, she could care less. The food, honestly nothing to brag about. thevalue and flavor is just not there. Food and drinks did come out within an appropriate time frame so that means they have enoughpeople in the kitchen. In all, I would not recommend this place to friends and family. Read more

In town for a conference at the convention center. I was staying in the Gasmlamp district. We wanted a restaurant with seafood... and sushi. Beautiful, spacious, contemporary dining room. Very helpful and friendly service. We had a few salads to start, salmon entree, lobster pasta entree and gnocchi w mushrooms. I did have an excellent saki with my meal as well. Very good spotfor an upscale dinner in downtown San Diego. Read more
