Reviews for Karina's Cantina Gaslamp in San Diego, CA
I had a late lunch with some friends during a work trip to San Diego. The ceviche trio is huge and was delicious. I couldn’t... finish even half of it. The space itself is gorgeous and very well decorated. Service was great, and prices were fair. It was agreat experience. Read more
The tampiquena was surprisingly bland. I spiced it up with the tasty, garlicky house salsa that came with the chips. By... contrast, the enchilada sauce was amazing - thick and earthy with a hint of cinnamon. Guacamole was also bland, but themargarita was good and strong. Service was pleasant, and the decor was nice. Prices were high for lunch. Read more
Delicious but loud. Great atmosphere for 20 somethings. Had to yell across table for people to hear each other. Flavors... were good. Tacos and fajitas delicious (mildly overpriced but not bad for 5th Avenue in gaslamp). Flan way too dense andgritty. Will return. Read more
My wife and I were visiting Comic con Special edition recently and after we left for the day we were hungry an looking for a... place to eat that had outdoor dinning and was not too crowded. While walking the Gaslamp Quarter we found Karina's met ourrequirements and decided to try their food. I ordered some salmon and my wife some ceviche plus a couple of drinks. The food wasexcellent, service was great and prices were reasonable. Read more
Stumbled upon Katrina's while walking down 5th. Great scene and even better music with music videos inside. Not kid friendly,... but very adult friendly inside and with a patio. Happy hour goes until 6:00. Pretty large menu, plenty of vegetarian andpescatarian options - not as many vegan options unless you ask. Mayte and Tomas at the bar were super sweet and took greatcare of us, would definitely come back, especially for the music! We were here on a Tuesday so we don't know what it looks likehere on a weekend but it's probably pretty damn fun! Bathrooms are very clean without long lines and overall the restaurant isimmaculate. Such an amazing atmosphere and design at Karina’s. The food and service was incredible, free chips and salsa as you wait and... everything we ordered including our drinks were delicious. Kind of located in a “dead-zone” (my opinion) on 5th...nice tosee Karina’s here where residents of San Diego and visitors will walk up and off the beaten path to come! A must try! Read more

Great location in the heart of the gas lamp district, the restaurant has a great feel inside. I came strictly to sample the... ceviche, and have no complaints. The ceviche sampler comes with three types of ceviche and is only $25. It's a huge portion thateven two of us could not finish. The margaritas were strong and impressive. When I arrived, the restaurant was empty due to itbeing opening time. A great location to have drinks and eat. Night would be better for groups. Plenty of private seating. I evennoticed a bookshelf wall that could be pushed in that led to a private dining area above. Creative. Latin music definitely setsthe scene and music videos play on large screens above the bar next to the giant Frida portrait. Murals and Latin art incase thedining area. The service was wonderful and attentive. The only complaint I have is the chips and tostada shells. They seem to ofbeen cooked in dirty oil or over-done because they were extremely heavy and dark. Considering this is a staple along side theceviche, I would suggest to management to pick a less dense tortilla and cleaner oil to fry. I'm sure many like me look on thereviews on yelp and come strictly for the Ceviche. A thinner tortilla would be less filling and result in more food beingordered. Read more
