Service was decent, we enjoyed the food. I had a business dinner here with 8 people. When the bill came I entered the tip but... then quickly realized they included the service fee. I crossed out the tip due to the 20% service fee added to the bill. Wowthey charged my card the tip, even though it was crossed out and the service fee. Currently disputing with an AMEX due tounreturned messages from management. Very unethical. Update: 8/20/2022 Wow back and forth with Amex 4 claims, Il Sogno stilldenies they did anything wrong. Visited this restaurant…upscale setting and the hostess and gentleman who brought us water were terrific. Waiter was nice... until we told him one of our party has a dairy allergy. He suggested some items and when he came back and said the first choicewould not work and had her pick another item, she had a hard time picking and the waiter said what do you want, an ambulancewith you food? At that point we were done, usually at restaurants like this the wait staff is familiar with the menu and can bequite helpful. Won’t be going back, and with the upcoming recession this type of service will be exposed… other restaurantshad waits to go in and this one did not, i hope things change and the waiter can at least not be mean about someone’s foodallergies. We still tipped since i think anyone working should be rewarded for that in this climate, but a larger tip would havebeen appropriate with better service Read more

Even with the negative reviews we decided to give this restaurant a chance for our last night in SD. The lighting was too dim... and I’m not sure a live band at the front of the restaurant makes the most sense. Despite being one of just a few seated whenwe arrived the food took 30+ minutes between courses and I was unsure if it was the server or the kitchen being behind. Theserver was nice when she was at our table but seemed to either be too busy or not able to keep all of her tables straight. A 2+hour total visit with lots of empty table time was not worth the carbonara and pizza that we ordered. Even as we were leavingour neighbors were still waiting for their starters. Hopefully something operationally improves. Read more

Such a great spot in the heart of the Gaslamp. Food was delicious and they have music 7 days a week. Awesome staff. Definitely... a must. Read more

The pizza selection is very small and tbh I didn’t like the one I ordered. The salami was strange and overall it was NOT... italian style Read more

Love the live music, food took a while and some of it was cold, nothing special a bit pricey for what it was. Good drink serving... though and lovely waiter. Server was a bit abrupt when I mentioned my order was wrong so didn't feel like also mentioning othermeals were cool. Read more

Love the atmosphere and the singer was great but food was mediocre. We ordered a charcuterie and it was basic. Then we ordered... the chicken picata and that was very basic as well. Not a lot of flavor to speak of. Staff was nice. Parking was easy to find, parked in parking garage. Read more

I booked a reservation expecting a nice casual evening in an Italian atmosphere. An "experience" was promoted with live music.... What could be better? Upon first impression, we were seated at a dirty table - crumbs on the seat and black stain on the whitelinen table cloth. The service was adequate. The staff seemed overwhelmed. However, the food was perfect. The lamb chops, garlicpotatoes, and grilled asparagus was perfection. The pasta was flavorful among the vegetables in a vodka blush sauce. The wineselection has a good variety despite the cabernets being solely from Napa. That aside, I am confused by the idea that Jazz musicsomehow fits with an Italian restaurant. It was loud, annoying at times, and less than entertaining. However, if you enjoy jazz, this is your place. Personally, I prefer Jazz with southern cooking or at a jazz bar is more my style. Nonetheless, the food anddrink helped make up for an otherwise weird experience, and for this, I give 4 stars. Read more
