This was probably the best sushi I have had in five years. All I have to say is that if you are a sushi lover, you absolutely... have to order the full moon specialty sushi roll it is insane. There is roasted mushroom crab on top of the sushi itself. we saton the patio and enjoyed twinkling lights and delicious sake at the recommendation of our server. We were celebrating a specialoccasion, and she very generously served us a second bottle of sake at no extra charge. We tried the Shishido peppers to start,which were pleasantly spicy. also ordered three specialty rolls, including the full moon roll, all of which were uniquelydifferent but equally delicious. We tried some of the cookies and cream ice cream for dessert, which we were told was from oneof the local ice cream shops. All in all, a very satisfactory evening. The chef certainly knows how to serve up a variety ofabsolutely amazing Japanese dishes, and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the downtown area. Read more
Came here with some friends that were visiting from OC and wanted to try some yummy sushi! First off, the place is cute and I... like how the menu reflects the name of the restaurant-- with each representing a moon phase. We actually made a reservation for6:30 pm but arrived 30 mins prior. The hostess was super kind and arranged our table anyways. Our food was prepared at areasonable time as for the restaurant was yet to be overcrowded. As for the food itself, it's quite mediocre due to lack offlavor. wouldn't call it the best sushi there is but it's not bad. The ingredients were fresh, though I did wish the menu hadmore of a range and variety to it. I did not try all of the sushi there so an actual hit might be in one of those. I've been searching for the best sushi place in San Diego for several years now and I can easily say this is by far it! The... sushi is so fresh, the dishes so artfully crafted, the service incomparable, the prices reasonable. Our waitress Hayley was soattentive and sweet, she better get her reward from management promised to their employees for a good review; a bottle of sake.The place is bustling, but not impossible or even difficult to get a table at. The interior is beautifully designed anddecorated. The whole experience is perfection. Can't wait to go back. Oh and their crab is real crab!! Not imitation!! Even thebest places will serve imitation. The only bummer is they're not open for lunch because I'd go, a lot. Wish I had more photosto post but my phone died. Very good sushi tonight. I read some of the 1-2 star reviews and was worried. I assume those people didn’t listen to the the... server recommendations on seasonal/more fresh specials. How can a list of 5-6 options that were flown in that day be anythingbut perfect. The service was great and the recommendations were on point. Get the Toro if it’s in season. I wanted sushi & someone suggested Full Moon so that is where I landed for dinner. The moment you walk in the atmosphere is... warm, welcoming, dim lighting, and feels very cozy! I went solo, but this would be the perfect spot for a date night as well! Myserver was Justin, and he was beyond wonderful. The sushi was great quality, the service appeared to be team oriented - &everyone stayed busy and was helpful to each other. Previously being a part of the service industry myself, it was nice to seepeople care about their job and customers. I even saw one of the sushi chefs running across the back! The good: The food was super good, the interesting combination of flavors, the presentation of the food was good, lighting in... this place was great for a date night. Bathroom were super clean The bad: music was too loud, had to park two blocks away Theugly: We had to look for the waiter to give us our bill after waiting for 15 minutes and then on top of that we had to wait 10minutes to get the change back. The staff here we're great about giving us a seat close to closing time. The food and atmosphere made for a great dining... experience. The sushi is generally good, and I recommend paying a few extra dollars to get the special sushi instead of the morebasic ones. Read more
