Reviews for El Zarape Restaurant in San Diego, CA
Giving one star for the worst customer service The staff is rude and also we have been here multiple times. They decide to close... shop 1hr earlier than mentioned time on the door. Wide range of options Great Mexican food. Best salsa Don?t order chips as youalready will get it with the burrito PS: forgot to click burrito as it looked very delicious Read more
Had the #13 Carnitas Plate. Food was great. Cool little spot in University Heights. Seating is limited, but timed things... perfectly and got a seat outside. Parking is on the street only, be prepared to parallel park. Read more
First time here, excellent breakfast burrito. Most tasty fluffy eggs I've ever had from a Mexican restaurant. Just to clarify... some things I read in some other reviews. This place is not cash only, they do accept cards. And there is no salsa bar, howevertheir red and green salsa are better than most Mexican restaurants in the area. Looking forward to going back and trying more! Read more
Best chicken burrito in San Diego is the El Zarape burrito - big claim to make but this juicy chicken + pasilla peppers + creamy... cheese PLUS the amazing red sauce is my go-to stop every time I visit SD. Love love love (also the House burrito withchicken+mole is amazing! Green sauce is great too!) Read more
My first time eating here. My boss raved about the food, and detoured off the 5 Fwy North back to Orange County just to get... takeout for our ride back. I wasn't disappointed. I ordered a steak and shrimp burrito that was damn good. Fresh ingredients, tasty, and worth the price. I would detour again to eat here. Read more
This place used to be good. It's gone downhill. The burritos are so skimpy & small. Hardly any guacamole on them & more tortilla... than meat. I paid $30! I should have went to Food4Less, bought the carnitas meat, prepared it with all the ingredients & itwould have been plenty & tasted better for $30. Sad. I won't be going back. Ever. Read more
I used to live 5 blocks from this place. So its offerings were a weekly staple to my diet. The California grilled chicken... burrito is my ?go to comfort food?. Skip the single plastic utensils and take-out bag (they have paper bags, too). If you likespicy, be sure and get the smoky red chipotle (?) hot sauce. The shrimp or fish tacos are delicious and well-priced to haveseveral. Seating is limited, but nearby Trolley Barn Park makes a decent picnic spot. My food orders have always been ready in10 minutes or less. Read more

I ordered a... quesadilla which was really greasy sadly so I didn?t eat to much but it DID taste good! My fiancé got a shrimp burrito andloved it! I took a bite and it tasted amazing! I will for sure swing by again and try them again Read more
