Reviews for El Rey Moro Taco Shop in San Diego, CA
Breakfast run. Sufficient & no complaints.
I gave a couple stars because I used to be a regular here and some of their stuff was good. But I don't think I'll be going... back. Last time I went, the cheese inside my enchilada was not melted at all. I requested a remake. The 2nd one was the same.Just shredded cheese inside. I said maybe you guys should cook your enchiladas longer. And the woman told me to my face, as Iwas showing her it wasn't melted, that the chef melted it this time. So disrespectful to me just for wanting the cheese in myenchilada to be melted. Also, last two times I ordered a Cali burrito, the fries poked holes in my tortilla and my burrito fellapart. Also wanted to charge me for pico. Something most places include as one of their salsa options that come with ameal. The poor quality isn't worth the prices anymore. Read more
Came here for breakfast and was not disappointed. Very nice good customer service, the coffee was great. We got the chilaquiles... and a hot Cheetos chicken burrito. No gross parts all meat and the chilaquiles tasted like my mom would make them ?? definitelycoming back! Good quality and good portions at a good price Read more
I think I finally found my Shrimp burrito spot. I am obviously not a Mexican. Growing up in San Francisco, I've had few... Hispanic friends, and the closest taste experience was from burrito shops along San Francisco's Mission. During few yearsworking in SW Houston, weekly TexMex did serve me well. But, my taste buds consistently seeked that California/Baja in TexMexburritos; Chipotle and Uberrito chain was my next best "Mexican". Now I am back in California, and have yet to find a burritoplace... until this week. Granted, this is northern San Diego county. But half dozen of these so-called "Mexican" places inNorthern San Diego county was missing something. Yet, we are so close. Maybe they replaced carbs/beans with fries (I actuallydo not know the full history on California burritos, but supposedly surfers brought them over). Some had thesesmokey-creamy-orange-colored-chipotle-hot sauce (very popular in San Jose since... 2005?). And for reasons unknown, theseplaces charge like $10 for a burrito, chips sold separately. I guess I am still used to the $4 super burrito days of SF. ElRey Moro Tack Shop. I came for a lotto next door (it is over $500mil again!), then saw your big yellow "Taco Shop" signage. Ihad already bought my Chinese to go from work that day... yet, unknown force made me walk into your store. Stood there for aminute... a patron walks in and orders... so I ordered my shrimp burrito. Came home... ate half of my chinese... then I bitinto your burrito. End of story. El Ray Moro, may you last as long as I am living in San Diego. Update: Since the remodel andchange of cook, it no longer tastes the same. =( Bringing down my rating. Read more
What a let down! Don't waste your time or money. Over priced and poor quality. We sat for a good 15 minutes as people who came... after got their orders. They apologized for the wait but the food did not make up for it. Two orders of two cheese enchiladas(one with rice & beans) had about 1/4 cup of cheese between them, which wasn't melted. All of our corn taco shells were so oldand hard they were almost inedible. The enchilada shells were deep fried?!? Like leather and hard to chew. $24 for 4 cheeseenchiladas and 3 mini tacos. Pic of my 2 cheese enchiladas for $7.55...sad. Read more
Great place for authentic Mexican comfort food. A small restaurant but suitable for a quick bite. They serve both wet burritos... and dry American burritos. They've got a wide variety of dishes. If you're looking for Americanized mexican food you're betterat Rigobertos or Cotixan. But this place will hit the spot if you're looking for traditional flavors and textures. Read more
Fast and friendly service. Meals are accompanied by chips. There's a small salsa bar by the register fully stocked with various... salsas and hot carrots. Cashier brings your food to your table if you opt to dine in. Food can also be ordered to go. Theburrito is loaded with food. I ordered a bistec ranchero burrito and it was hot, flavorful, filling, and loaded with deliciousjuices from the tomatoes. The torta has refried beans smeared on each side of the torta and is also loaded with whatever fillingyou choose. Definitely recommend this place for a quick bite. Read more

My... only complaint about it is both times I?ve gotten it it completely falls apart within the first 4 or 5 bites. It?s messy butamazing. Would have given it 5 stars but the lady at the cash register isn?t very friendly. So I deducted a star. But I?lldefinitely be back for the burrito! Read more
