Reviews for Crest Cafe in San Diego, CA
First place I ate after arriving San Diego. Was immediately seated on the weekend even though the place was packed. Bright, airy... and cheery on the inside. Staff was friendly and service was decent considering how busy they were. Shrimp omelet withhollandaise sauce was stuffed with shrimp and cheese and very flavorful. Home fries were crispy and seasoned well. Woulddefinitely recommend Read more
I came here for breakfast before I headed back to AZ. It was a really solid place for a nice breakfast. The neighborhood was... super nice and had a ton of diversity as did the restaurant itself. Can't go wrong with bacon and eggs here but they have a lotof other great things to try. Read more
Not only is this place super cute and fun looking, the servers that were there were great as well. I got the Ortega Scrambler... with hash browns and tortillas. The hash browns were perfectly crispy and the peppers in the eggs were absolutely scrumptious. My girlfriend got the Angus Beef Hash which she loved. Eggs were perfectly over easy and the meat was really good. Fruit tastedsuper fresh and sweet. Definitely recommend having a stop if youre in Hillcrest Read more
This place is a regular place for me when I'm in that area of town. Usually for breakfast. Price is a bit higher than others but... not unreasonable. I usually get either The Works with pancakes. If I don't order this dish, I order the Cafe Eggs dish which isbasically an egg croissant sandwich. You can't go wrong with either choice; but don't limit yourself to those choices. Theservice here is friendly and I've had no issues; in fact they know what I like to order from my previous visits. That's somegood personalized service. I only have one complaint, on the Cafe Eggs croissant dish. I would have the choice of fresh fruit. That option has been eliminated as an included side and is now a paid extra. This would be a great thing to restore to therestaurant. Read more
Crest is a diner style restaurant that serves self-described homemade comfort food. Overall, the food was homemade and good. ... I'm giving it 4 stars only because I had the hot Mexican roast beef sandwich and the beef wasn't quite as tender as I wasexpecting. BUT, two caveats: one, I had a bite of my daughter's chicken tenders and it was one of the juiciest chicken tendersI've ever had (again, homemade), and two, I'm willing to go back and try another dish to see if they can garner a 5 star rating.I have a feeling their overall menu is good. Outstanding service. The vibe is warm, friendly and welcoming. My server James was brilliant, navigating a very busy section... efficiently and cheerfully. The veggie breakfast mess was delicious with a thick rich veggie chili with garbanzos and kidneybeans garnished with incredibly fresh pico de Gallo, served over breakfast potatoes. It was hearty, spicy and delicious. Read more
