Reviews for Chuy's Taco Shop in San Diego, CA
Ok, I'm from Indonesia and I eat Thai chill for snacks, but I got humbled by Chuy's shrimp diablo!! That was the spiciest... Mexican food I've ever eaten, heck it's spicier than most of Indonesian food even! It is spicy, but the sauce is flavorful. They're portion also pretty generous. We also tried fish taco that my 6yo gave chef's kiss for, cabeza taco--meat is supertender and delicious, and carne asada chips. We are happy with all!! Read more
At first, I was thinking this place is too expensive. Then, when I saw the portion sizes (totally shareable) it made it worth... the price. $57 for a family of 4 to eat is pretty expensive. Sounded like they had daily specials with reduced prices though. Imean, food was good but we likely won't go back. Way too many other places to check out in the area. Read more
This is my go-to spot when I visit San Diego. The food is simply deliciously authentic...what I cannot find in the Midwest. The... salsa bar is an added bonus. I was able to explore, taste and enjoy all the variety and options. Did I mention the staff washelpful in suggesting different food options. Read more
Well, at first I was surprised at the prices, but the quality and the amount of food provided was more than substantial. I got... the fish taco plate, bean cheese burrito, also a side of guacamole... Oh yes a side of fries too. Let's just say I was packed! The fish tacos were large, crispy, filled with cilantro, tomatoes, and cabbage. Then drizzled with a cream sauce. The beanburrito was piping hot, melty cheese with a delicious flour tortilla. I'll definitely be back, but might have to order less, haha. Worth every penny. Read more
Run, don?t walk to this Taco Shop! Had the adobada plate and it was delicious. Meat was tender with a perfect amount of... seasoning/marinade. Refried Beans and Rice finished the plate perfectly. Hubby had the sopes and the masa was cooked right?notoverly greasy or crunchy. Staff was kind too. Thanks Chuy?s Tacos ???? Read more
Hands down this has to be one of the best taco shops in San Diego! I have had many tacos, but Chuys beats them all even beats... some tacos from TJ! The thing I love most is that their food is not only delicious but also they use quality meats, notsaturated in grease and their portions are generous! I always get their pollo asado taco! It's filled to the brim with chickenand guacamole! The chicken always falls out and I have to finish my taco with a fork! Not many places can boast that. SERIOUSLYTHERES MORE MEAT THAN TORTILLAS REAL ESTATE. The front desk ladies are always nice! One time I lost my favorite metal tumblerand I called the morning shift gal who kept it safe for me and I picked it up from the night shift gal, that's incrediblecommunication! The only thing I would recommend is I think there lobby could be used more efficiently! For the space that ithas, the flow just doesn't make much sense . Some Mexican Feng shui would make this place unstoppable, and flatten out thecompetition! Read more
Large portions ! I ordered the carne asada quesadilla and it was large. It tasted good but it was just tortilla cheese and... carne. It needed pico. Something to balance the carne flavor. Above average. Nachos were decent. Read more
This place came highly recommended by my friend who was born, raised and practiced medicine in TJ; and it has a Guy Fieri stamp... of approval. Both of those are saying something about this place. It?s good authentic Mexican food. We love the size of thechips. You chose the meat and the pile of chips gets covered in cheese, Mayo, guacamole, and meat. Two types of cheese are used, cheddar and cotija. If I must put in a complaint, the chips end up being a bit too salty, and I think it?s dye to the cheese. You can cut down the salt by using salsa, still it?s a bit too much salt for my taste. The upside is that it?s never finished, tons of food for more than two people. My son and I usually share, and we cannot finish this dish. The fries are amazing. Idon?t know how they make them, but they are wow! The kids Bean and cheese comes with fries, and there so much food my two littleeaters can?t finish between the two of them. Their salads are served in a Tostada bowl. Delicious and generous portions. Theirtacos are a bit pricey, but delicious and fresh. Not as good as Tacos El Gordo- but seriously, nothing else is. They are goodand delicious. The atmosphere is sparse, but it?s a large enough place to sit with your family and eat. We like it and usuallygo once or twice pret year. It?s my sons favorite- he just loves the massive chips plate. Read more
