I wanted to give this place 5 stars... We had dinner and breakfast (Italian sub, meatball sandwich, egg tacos, egg burrito) at... Caterina's and everything was delicious. I couldn't figure out why Caterina's was less crowded then all of the other places toeat by the pier. The conclusion I have come to is that it's the lack of customer service and general unhappy atmosphere. I madean effort to go inside after I finished our first meal there and told the man who I believe was the owner or manager, that thefood was delicious. He didn't smile or offer a gracious thank you. Instead, I got a head nod. I thought maybe he was having abad day. The next day for breakfast, he was still in the same unfriendly mood. We wanted to eat lunch there after breakfast cuzthe food IS GOOD but I didn't want to continue to support a place that was this unfriendly to us. After reading the reviews, Isee that I am not alone. Just my opinion, but, I am fairly certain that allowing outside beverages is NOT what is going to hurtyour business. Read more

I genuinely enjoyed my gelato here with my family. The price is fair and I love how there are plenty of seating both inside and... outside of this establishment. I would highly recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area in San Clemente. Theyare walks away from the beach and you really can't ask for more than that. I did notice they have some interesting rules of nooutside food or laptops at the restaurant. Like it or hate it, bottom line, their restaurant, their rules so keep that in mind. :) Read more

Wonderful selection of flavors and the gelato was really tasty and creamy (I tried the Horchata and Stracciatella). The staff... was cheerful and helpful with choosing a flavor and the shop is in a nice place close to the beach area. Nothing better on ahot day than a cool gelato in the hand. So if you?re in the area get a cuppa gelato (or waffle cone in the morning when they?rethe freshest). Read more
Beautiful sea-side cafeteria. The chocolate ice cream is heavenly, and they have cute little patio bar stools where you can sit... and people-watch all day! I love this place. Read more
