I have been here many times. Everytime the food has been great and when I went for dinner the other week, it was no exception.

It had been a while since we'd last dined at Johnston's Saltbox (before Covid) and it's changed a lot. On the plus side, the... outdoor area is lovely. They expanded beyond the small outdoor bar area on the patio and with the trees and the lights, it's abeautiful place to dine. With that being said, at some point they moved away from ordering from the table to ordering andpaying through a window. When you arrive, a host greets you and secures a table so when you have completed ordering/paying andyou get your number, the host escorts you to a table. Service at the table was excellent. I was a bit taken aback by orderingthrough the window and chose the burger by default. I ordered a reasonably priced bottle of wine which ended up being very good.The burger, not good. It was an odd experience to order through a window for menu items ranging from $17 (burger) to $38 (cod)and a $32 chicken pot pie. The cheese plate was $28. The food here used to be very good and there was a line out the doornightly because they didn't take reservations. They still don't. While their capacity has increased, the food quality has takena dive. Perhaps wine and the small bites would be a better choice for next time when we can still enjoy the lovely outdoorambience. This place is great. They also have a beautiful back patio. You order at the counter and they bring you your food and drinks. I... got the kale salad with chicken and a latte which came out to $34 (tip not included) so definitely on the pricier side. But thefood, service and atmosphere was great. Read more

The food was really really good, we had the pesto sandwich and the cauliflower starter. The only downside is standing in line... for a super long time in the freezing cold to place an order. I really think their system does not work well where you have toorder outside. There are plenty of waiters that are standing around that can make the entire experience nicer. The prices alsodon?t justify standing outside in the freezing cold to place an order, consider a beter system or add more places to order. Read more

This place is the BEST. It?s super artsy. The quality and creativity of their food is amazing. The ingredients are seasonal and... very fresh. Also LOVE their interior/outdoor design, the serve ware, the vibe and the service. Highly recommend the french toastwith fried chicken. The texture of the French toast is almost like a mascarpone cheese pancake. It?s sooooooo soft and fluffy.And the sweetness from the cinnamon and the peach balanced really well with the savory. The steak & eggs ratatouille is good aswell. We also ordered the ?wanna peach of me?, which is not showed in the picture. And it?s probably the BEST danish I?ve everhad.
