Reviews for Torchy's Tacos in San Antonio, TX
Like most in San Antonio I've been subject to the hype train of Torchy's tacos for years. After delaying my first visit for many... of those years, I decided to give it a shot today. Much to my dismay, the taco ranking for Torchy's falls to a 5/10. Thegentrified taco experience tried in earnest to fool me into believing i was about to have some bomb tacos. But from the momentI laid eyes on these tacos, I knew shenanigans were afoot. The tortilla is very clearly a Sysco foods/bootleg corporate take onthe beloved flour tortilla that makes or breaks most tacos. From the first bite my head was shaking in disappointment. Though, Iwas graced with internal laughter, knowing my years of suspicions about the over-hype of Torchy's was correct. The way theybuild their tacos gives you an ice cold introduction as you bite into the cold toppings. Then you hit the meat, which is warm, and finish with the "tortilla" that is of the most unremarkable construction. This creates a confusing cacophony of cold andluke warm that is just so...bad. We live in the birthplace of breakfast tacos, and arguably the best tex-mex food in the wholestate. You can't bring a plastic spork to a gunfight and expect to win. If you love tacos. Stick to your go-to taco shops,Jalisco's, meat markets, and small businesses who make a superior taco, for a 1/3 the price. This 3 star rating is purely basedon the food quality. Staff was great, location, though the AC was broken, was great. It's just not a good place for tacos. Maybein the Midwest or north of Austin. But not in the Mecca of tacos. Read more
So good! Tipsy Chick with Bourbon bacon jam tacos and Baha shrimp tacos with queso! Highly recommend. Great prices too.
Very clean restaurant with excellent service & food. Stopped here on the way home after hiking Enchanted Rock. They gave us a... buzzer but instead brought our food out to us. We got the chicken Fajita, bushfire, Baja shrimp (?), & tipsy chicken tacos. Allwere delicious. The tipsy chicken wasn't quite what I expected (full spinach leaves), but still good. The bacon bourbonmarmalade was a little sweet for me. I added more Chipotle sauce & it was perfect. We also got the green chili queso & chips.OMG.... SOOOO Good! Just the right spice & so flavorful. Highly recommended. To top it off, the manager came around after wewere done and collected our plates. Great fast food taco spot! We'll be back for sure. Read more

Great location in north San Antonio near the theater. The food is made to order. I ordered the Baja Shrimp taco and the Democrat... which is a barbacoa taco. They finally have regular drinks available in addition to a bar. We will be back. Read more
We came here for the first time on August 1st. Everything was pretty ok. We thought ordering a taco would come with a side dish... of some sort, but it did not. That made the price of one taco too high. The beef in the beef Fajita taco was a little overcooked and grissley. The queso and chips were decent, but we should have been given more chips. Read more
Torchys Tacos is what it's called, yes.. I finally went La Cantera to enjoy this. Keywords: Taste, Class and Style. You'll enjoy... the varieties, and the Democrat was awesome. The chip and dip was very awesome, however, I think it's definitely overpriced.Customers should be made to know the cost while urging them to try it out. Overall, I'll definitely say my experience was great, and I'll definitely visit again. I'll rate this place a 5-Star if not for the wait, and the taco were a bit cold when it finallyarrived our table.
