Ya'll have to try this place if your big on BBQ. The MAC DADDY, brisket sandwich, chicken strips, fries, mac n cheese and cream... of corn, like everything is delicious. Even the pickles. We waited about 10 minutes which was not bad for going during thelunch rush hour. And the price was not bad at all for great tasting BBQ that was well served (big portions), 2 adults and 1child for 40 bucks. Not to mention that the staff was nice and they were fast! Read more
Consistency is key. However on this visit, it was nothing but. I came here and dined in back-to-back days - Wednesday and... Thursday. Ordered the meat plate with ribs on both days. Wednesday was phenomenal. Ribs were juicy, fell off the bone and tastedamazing with the hint of maple wood flavor. They also looked like they were put in the smoker to achieve such look and taste. Iwas so pleased, that I came the next day - today. Taste and consistency was not the same. Not even enjoyable. Ribs looks likethey were thrown on the grill and overcooked. They had a hard exterior and a tough interior and only edible when putting BBQsauce on them. Mind you I don?t even like their sauce. It?s too tangy and thin for my taste, but the only thing available. Checkthe pics and see the clear differences in both plates. Intrigued by the audacity to serve inconsistent food, I asked an employeeabout them, to which she waved me off, because she didn?t understand English. At that point I didn?t even bother to ask anotheremployee. To the regulars, the foot traffic on both days was also completely different. Busy Wednesday and slow on Thursday. Isthere insider knowledge to avoid eating here on certain days? As for my rating, minus a star for the inconsistent food (turkey,chicken and brisket are also nothing to brag about), half a star for lack of support from the non-English speaking employee andanother half star for their bbq sauce and lemonade. The latter tasting like cheap Minute Maid, when I was told it was freshsqueezed. Stick with beer. The bottle that looks like a throwback Astros jersey is ???? and pairs well with the BBQ, but thisplace is definitely hit or miss and they struck out today. Read more
Outstanding BBQ, brisket was very juicy and tender. Great service. Coleslaw had more vinegar than I'm used to, but not bad.... Sliced turkey had great flavor. Read more
It's good, but doesn't live up to the expectations set by other reviews here. We got the 2 meat plate with marbled brisket,... ribs, mac, and collard greens. We also got the fried chicken with okra and fries. The best thing was the brisket, although youcan get better in other parts of Texas. Ribs were a disappointment, they were not fall-off-the-bone tender. Fried chicken (oractually chicken tenders) had good flavor and was very moist, but the breading was very soggy. I would say temper yourexpectations and you'll be alright here. Read more
Delicious BBQ! Haven?t had Texas BBQ in two years and this place did not disappoint. We did arrive after 7pm on a Monday and... certain items had already run out, but what we did order was really good. Loved the potato salad and okra! Read more
We are on a trip from KC and really wanted to try some local BBQ and compare. Strangely there doesn't seem to be a big consensus... in town on what the best place is. This place was above average. You get to the parking lot and the rich smoke is phenomenal forsetting the scene... There are some interesting sounding sides and a famous grilled cheese brisket sandwich. But honestly I wasunderwhelmed by the sides (spicy corn was okay, the meaty Mac was basic, and the vinegar coleslaw was pretty flavorless until Ihit the feta, that picked it up.) The brisket was the biggest disappointment for sure, we got the marbled and it was also verylight on flavor. The grilled cheese brisket sandwich barely had the cheese melted. The table BBQ sauce was pretty good, a littlethin for me and more on the vinegary side, which I expected here in Texas, but fully doable. The highlight, though, was thereally well-flavored sausage and the sweet & spicy pork ribs. It all paired quite well with the Mexican Coke! Read more
Absolutely delicious!! I had the brisket with mac & cheese, and fried okra. The brisket had amazing flavor and was super tender... and juicy. You have the option to wash it all down with tea, lemonade, a variety of soft drinks and they also have a niceselection of beers. The staff was very friendly, and service was very fast. WOW, just WOW, super delicious! We wanted to try different meats so we went ahead and ordered the 3 meat plate, pulled pork,... brisket, and ribs. Everything was so soft and juicy! Highly recommend it. Places like this make visiting Texas so worth it! Wewill definitely be stopping by here again next time we're in town! Read more
