Dinner and lunch entrees are okay. Just the average fried rice and breaded chicken served with dipping sauce. The real stars of... the show are the wonton soup and the egg rolls! Would come back again just for those! Also NOT wheelchair friendly Read more
Went and had an early lunch. Restaurant was very clean and organized. Service was superior and food was hot and made to order. I... had the egg drop soup as well as a half order of crab rangoon. Both were tasty and very freshly made. I ordered General Tsochicken and fried rice. Both were splendid in taste and presentation. I was more impressed by the customer service andfriendliness of the staff. Come to find out that both gentlemen working were not brothers but father and son. Such a delight tosee great teamwork and respect for one another and their guests. Will definitely be returning to try other items on menu. Highlyrecommend this establishment and it?s superior quality of food. Read more
OK Full disclosure food used to be awesome here? but this last time we?ve come it?s been a year or two since we?ve been here... but plate had way too much vegetables more than the meat and food was that as tasty as it used to be that being said it wasdecent not bad for the price appetizers were way better than the actual plate.. Did you know that the good ol? Silver Star Cafe has been servin? up good ol? Chinese treats ?n? eats in a funny little corner of... a funny little midcentury strip mall on good ol? South Flores since 1965 - that?s 57 years(!) - and that I?d never even heard of?em before today(!)? Well, they have - and I hadn?t! But let me tell you, that?s not the case anymore - that changesTONIGHT. And now the good ol? Silver Star is one of our very favorite new (old) eateries in all of good ol? San Antone! Yaknow, there ain?t a whole heck of a lot of these funny ol? (and) family owned and operated) 1960s Chinese restaurants in funnyol? 1960s strip malls (where everything (including the food) still looks exactly the same as it did back in 1965) left - so youknow, it?s really important that we all try and support these wonderful little time-tunnel legacy business eateries before theyall disappear into another dimension for good. Three Cheers for the Good Ol? Silver Star! Read more
Don?t be fooled by the humble surroundings, Silver Star Cafe is legit good. How can you tell? When you walk into this Chinese... cafe, you?re hit with three punches: an aroma wall of bleach (that shows the place is probably clean despite its decor from1972), the sight of really happy customers, and what seemed to be a family of workers helping each other with every aspect ofservice. No, the server was not overly friendly, but she also wasn?t indifferent or rude. The food was really hot and reallytasty. I should have ordered something other than Kung Pao Chicken to get a better taste of the cook?s talent. The prices arevery reasonable considering how much food is served. Okay, maybe not the most posh place in town, but the food holds up well. Read more
