Reviews for Kababchi Grill in San Antonio, TX
Probably the best meal we?ve had in awhile. If you haven?t eaten here yet you are missing out - Kababchi Grill is... AMAZING. Everything is fresh, fresh, fresh and made to order. They literally hand cook the meat on a grill by a window. TheArabic flat bread is clearly homemade and comes out piping hot and is so good - like delicious cloud of dough! The sauces(hummus, garlic sauce, tzatziki) are fantastic. The salad was delicious. Everything was just so so so so so good! AND theportions are big. It was worth every cent and more. We were just visiting SA for a few days but it looks like we?ll go backagain before we leave. Do yourself a favour a get an entrée of meat, chicken tikka was exceptional. Oh and they do freshsqueezed juices too! Read more
Excellent quality food and atmosphere. The guest host was attentive and charming. Our waiter could have checked on our table a... little bit more, but still a wonderful experience. We will be coming back soon for more of everything. I strongly recommend theIraqi Eggplant Salad for an appetizer to share. The smoky flavors in the flatbread and chicken were exquisite. Read more
Staff was attentive and kind. They also respected space and weren?t overbearing (I was eating solo today). I enjoyed the... atmosphere. The music created an ambiance I hadn?t felt since I lived with my Iraqi friend. It was a wonderful culturalexperience to dine here and I will be back! Next time to their cafe for hookah as well! Kababchi Grill was so good. All the meat is cooked to order over charcoal wich adds a subtle smokey flavor. My husband and son... both had the lamb tika, and i had the gyro sandwich. service was also very good. My family and I all really enjoyed this place. Read more
While the place was rated very highly (4.8 stars on Google), I find it average at best. The two skewer dish that I ordered, one... ground meat and one chunks of chicken (tikka) over or with rice, lacked flavor in the meat. You can definitely taste theover-the-charcoal cooking & preparation, but the meat itself lacked flavor. It wasn't just bland, that somewhat gamey meatflavor came through (know what I mean?). And the chicken, although well prepared, was meh. The side of rice was interesting. Ihad upgraded it to biryani rice, which this was not. An argument could be made that this is an Iraqi-biryani, but that's aconcept I'm not familiar with. It was flavorfully good regardless of what it was called. Had I not requested the side of garlic, and later some pickles (although as an "Iraqi place," they didn't know "turshi."), the only sauce/liquid you got was from thegrilled half tomato; which was surprisingly not charred. Again, the rice aside, very bland. Requesting Iraqi tea was probablythe best judgment call I made during this visit. The cardamom black tea was good. If you tell them you were fasting (this visitwas during Ramadan), right when you were seated, they served you one date and a choice of either lentil or vegetable soup. I gotthe lentil one. I guess it was their take on Iraqi lentil soup. It was good. Different. But good. The mint lemonade smoothiewas not bad, but not worth the price. I should have passed on it The service was done by two teenagers or very young adults.Considering that it was a full house right after iftaar (breaking of the fest) time, their hustle was commendable. Slightlyabove average service, but very personable if you actually talk to them as individuals; which was an opportunity I had after therush. Read more

Came over here tonight for a feast and ordered a little bit of everything on the menu including a cheese pizza and added gyro... meat to it for a topping. We had wings, rice, chicken, lamb, Dolmas, Smoothies, Baklava, and some other items in combination topick and eat of everything for everyone in our party kind of like a buffet for a party of 5. Food was good and cooked fresh sowas nice and hot. Some didn't have enough seasoning or spice though so lacked some flavor but wasn't too spicy for anyone sincedidn't have enough spice anyways. Even the "Hot Wings". Tip was automatically added as 15% to the bill but we added a littlebit extra. I don't know where the automatic tip came from or when it is automatically applied or not applied. The best Iraqi grill in town. Almost everything is good, cooked to perfection. Service is fast, friendly and professional. Don?t... forget to try their greasy joiner while there, it?s absolutely a must because nothing like it! Well done Kababchi, keep it up. Read more
