Reviews for Fish City Grill in San Antonio, TX
First time here. Been wanting to try it since it opened and finally got the chance. We weren't disappointed. The service was... great. The food was great. My wife had the fish sandwich with cup of gumbo. The gumbo was on point. I had the crab bisqueand the blackened trout. Both meals were excellent. I really recommend the crab bisque. We will be back again. Read more
Used to visit their 281/1604 location and was never disappointed. Not sure what is up with this new location, but they have some... opportunities to be better. Specifically, the speed of their service. We got seated right away, but it took over 10 minutes toget our drinks. The bad part is that I could see our drinks already poured, but just sitting there waiting to be picked up. Whenthe waitress went to get them, one of them was not correct so she had to wait for the bartender to re-do it. Inefficient...Everything else was decent except for a mix-up on one of the dishes. Taste was good although I think the other location overallis the better place to try before this location. Read more
First time here, we were seated quickly and had our waitress, Zee, taking drink orders in no time. My wife decided on the salmon... cake sandwich, my daughter the kid's fish sticks, my don the kid's burger, and I ordered the Alabama Catfish platter. Off thebat I was so happy waitress saw my indecision and let me order blackened and fried fillets! I still don't know which wasbetter...but that fried fillet was so crispy and light & fluffy! My wife loved the salmon patty, but wished the bun would'vebeen toasted on the grill a bit instead of just a bun. Same for my son's burger. Kid's fish sticks are a bargain for $5.99.Tasty, crispy and fresh! Calamari had perfectly seasoned beading and 2 different sauces for dipping. All in all, really greatmeal, and we will definitely be back! Read more
My mom and I are in TX visiting my sister and nieces?took mom here for a belated Mother?s Day lunch. We were sat outside?no one... came out to serve us and our new server Travis noticed we?d been sitting a while. He came out and apologized and offered soup onthe house. I declined but mom got the crab bisque. She LOVED it and I appreciated Travis offering and being so attentive. Momordered the scallops and bacon wrapped shrimp meal, she also ordered the prickly pear Margarita and loved everything sheordered. I was DD so only water for me, but the bbq salmon tacos are underrated! They were made so perfectly with a nice crispytouch. Everything blended so perfectly. Travis was very attentive and observant and knew what we needed before even having toask. The prices here are also very reasonable and great quality. I will most definitely return here and hopefully we get Travisagain. 50% tip because to me, he definitely earned it! Check this place out if you haven?t! Read more
Great seafood restaurant - found it on Google and decided to give it a try. We were very surprised at how good our dinners were.... The crab stuffed flounder with mashed potatoes was excellent. The shrimp gumbo soup was also very good. The only complaint theywere out of a few items in the menu. Our server was excellent. Read more
Our first time here, and we were impressed! Fast, friendly service. There is a blackboard wall menu with daily specials, as well... as a delicious regular menu. I loved the seared scallops and bacon wrapped prawns, as well as our appetizers of a dozen veryfresh oysters on the half shell and crispy calamari. Best we've had in Texas, and we are from the PNW! My new favorite drink wasamazing, The Twisted Citrus Martini. We passed our compliments onto the bartender. Our server Sean was attentive and gregarious, with good suggestions. We chose to eat inside, but there is also seating outside that is open to the bar. We are looking forwardto warm nights for dinner there! Read more
I drive by this location regularly, and finally had the opportunity to try it out. I had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer... and a chalkboard special of fish tacos with seasoned rice. The fried green tomatoes were FANTASTIC - thin, crispy, and perfect. The tacos were good - well seasoned and a nice combination of flavors. The cilantro lime rice was a surprise - you think blandwhen you think of rice, but this was a startling burst of flavor - lime, cilantro, and what tasted like cumin and maybe evensome hatch seasoning. I loved it at first, but as the meal went on it became a little overpowering. It wasn't a busy evening, but the service was pretty slow. It was a good meal, but it was pretty pricey, so my expectations were high. Not a bad placefor a date night - I liked the outside patio, but I don't think the value for the price will make this a spot to visit often. Read more
The food was amazing. Along with our server Anabel was amazing and attentive. The shrimp and crab queso is great. The soup... sampler is a must if you want to find the soup you like. If you are going between two soups the will do half and half in onebowl. Lunch was great we will definitely come back :). Read more
