Reviews for China Star Chinese Restaurant in San Antonio, TX
A hidden gem for sure. I've been coming here, with my family and by myself, since I was a child and although the prices aren't... as dirt cheap as back then, you will be hard pressed to find better prices for such good food with quantity. I recommend thesesame or lemon chicken or any rice mains, as you get the most bang for your buck. Lunch and dinner specials come with a soup(egg drop, won ton, hot and sour) and sides (egg rolls, wontons, chicken wing). No way you can finish it all in one sitting, giving you some leftovers for a bargain. Highly recommend anyone give it a try at least once, I bet you'll be returning :) Read more

Definitely a restaurant for people that enjoy quantity and not quality. Food has no flavor and the restaurant feels like you're... eating in somebody's garage with lots of personal things accumulated everywhere over the three decades they've been open. Quickto serve your meal hard to find for refills and extras. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Read more
Food was delicious, price was very reasonable, and the portions were generous but not wasteful

In constant pursuit of the hidden gem, we found ourselves visiting China Star Chinese Restaurant. If you are looking for curb... appeal this is not your spot, but if you are looking for good food look it up. When we walked in the first thing we noticed isthe lighting is extremely diminished. Next, you only see approximately eight to nine tables. They told us to have a seat and wechose a table, making five of their tables being used by customers. They handed us a lunch and dinner menu. We both orderedoff the lunch menu. I ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken with veggie Roll and fried rice while my wife ordered Lemon Chicken withWonton soup and white rice. The food was freshly prepared, and the portion size allowed me to eat both lunch and leftovers fordinner. Read more
The place is a small family owned business. However the service was awesome so was the food. You sit yourself and the host... comes and it takes all of 10 minutes from the time you walk in to when you sit down to get your food. Huge portions that youwill definitely be taking some home. It doesn't have a kids menu so if you have children that don't like Asian food this is notthe place for them. For 3 people it was $21 so well worth it. Read more
This is a pretty generic Chinese restaurant. What keeps me coming back is that they are very inexpensive and they serve up a... generous amount. Food is pretty stereotypical Chinese food. I?d like to see some more authentic items. Wait staff is friendlyand food was hot and came out pretty quickly. Read more
