Reviews for Star of India in Salt Lake City, UT
We took out dinner from this place. This is a typical Indian place in the usa, very stereotyped, bland food without much aroma.... The chicken/ goat biriyani was nothing but rice and meat. I don?t want to call them biriyani. Chicken tandoori was also verybasic and without much flavors. I didn?t like much this place. Read more

What a wonderful place! We dined in here and it was delicious. When you dine in here they have containers which is the best... idea. All the dishes were distinct and very flavorful. I recommend having the saag, and the chay tea, Indian coffee and thenaan is amazing. Even the rice is flavorful. The staff here is wonderful and super friendly. I recommend this place! Great fortakeout and for eating in. Read more
To an Indian the distinction between a naan and a ?not naan? is very clear. So since this restaurant can?t make actual naans... they should just not have them on the menu. Their version of naan be it plain or garlic is basically a 1/4? thick maida roti.Secondly, they ?let? you eat in the restaurant while serving you in takeout containers. Kinda bogus. On the flavorful side ?paneer Bhurji was spot on as well as saag paneer. Veg in coconut curry was insipid and a waste. The service was friendly. If youreally are dying for Indian food go for it otherwise try another restaurant. Read more
I had such a pleasant dining experience while in Salt Lake City with my fiance. We had just gotten our rental car and saw that... this place was nearby. The fiance and I enjoy Indian food where we live in Oregon, so this is not an unfamiliar cuisine for us.The lady mentioned to us that the food would be served in to-go containers, which was not a problem for us especially since wetypically have leftovers when eating at Indian restaurants. The service was friendly, and we felt well taken care of. The fooditself was delicious! Flavorful, and I was given the option of a spice level between mild and medium. Our server figured we werefrom out of town and chatted with us about our trip, and seemed to take a genuine interest about it. I'm glad we found thisrestaurant! And sure enough, our portions were large enough for us to have leftovers for dinner after our hike. Read more
Currently, food is served within to-go style. The portions were plentiful and made to order. I regret not ordering more spice... in my tikka masala, my dish as I asked for was mild/medium. I suggest medium:) The rice served with was enough for 3 people. All was a pleasant experience. Read more
